It's an exciting and potentially lucrative concept. Average people can lend money to others or borrow money for any of their needs. All credit types can create a loan listing and the interest rates are reasonable, around 8% - 29% (unlike payday and title loans which charge up to 300%). Prosper is licensed to lend in all 50 states and it was founded by Chris Larsen, the founder of e-Loan.com and it's backed by the founder of eBay. My group is The Sturzstrom Funding Group at http://www.ProsperFiveStar.com and I am accepting memberships from all who are interested. There are no fees to list a loan, and only a small one-time service fee of 1% if you accept a loan. My question is what does anyone here know about Prosper and do you think it's a good concept?

I'm about to finish repaying my housing loan. And about to retire. I've been told that I could refinance it to get funds to use for important things like children's education or renovation.. Is that a good idea?

I still see these old fashion people holding the line up at gorocery stores with their antiquated fred flintstone check bullshit. Everybody can at least get a debit card if anything anymore there should be no reason to use checks unless you are paying person to person or business.

I am upside down on a car loan (owe $16K, the car is worth around $11K), will the bank holding the car loan negotiate with me the principal owed (reduce it) if I sell the car and want to pay them off even if I have to take money out of my pocket to make up the difference.

I also contribute fully to my 401(k). Since I can't contribute to my Roth IRA, I was wondering whether I'm allowed to open a traditional IRA account and whether that's even a good idea. Any insights? Any advice on saving for retirement?

Thanks!

With that in mind (boy, I can't wait to land work), I know I'll have to make some lifestyle changes..basically, can't go out as much and plunker down on trivial expenses, like cover charges at clubs.

In a way, it's a good thing I'm still single and have no dependents.. I'd really hate to be in this boat if I was married with children.

What are free or very low cost activities one can engage in? I need to obtain such info for 2007; I definitely won't go out as much, but that's ok; paying off my debt is a serious priority of mine.. one activity which came to mind was going to the library and borrowing books to read.

I'd appreciate your input.

I have Yahoo DSL, but now I have to pay for my phone line which I never use. I already have Comcast cable (50$/mo), I'm wondering if it'd be better to switch to Triple Play where each one is $33?? I mean since when does Comcast have phone? I dont need it, but I'm not too excited about VoiP service. Is Cable faster than DSL?
