file a report with the police department for check fraud and you will go to court to get the money back and that person will get into trouble. its very illegal to write a bad check let alone from a known canceled account.

contact them if you can and see if it was on purpose, then give them a reasonable time to make the check good before you file charges with your local police department and sue in small claims court. Issuing a check with no money to pay it is a crime and can result in jail time for the person writing it.
