I have had a check given to me and there was no money in there account what can i do to recover my money?

Contact the police, this is a felony crime

You can call the bank daily to see if when there is money in the account and then go in person to their bank and cash it that day. Also, if you can find out when that person gets paid, then go in that same day in person to their bank and cash it.
You can also ask them for cash or depending on the amount just call it a lose if you know they are a loser.

The easiest thing to do is to go back to the person who wrote the check. I am not sure that you could go to small claims court.

sue the person that gave you the check.
Treat it the same way you would treat somone who bought ervices or goods and didnt pay for it.
