I am a single 18 year old male, living with my 20 year old girlfriend, I am currently going to college and am interested in getting a little bit of help from foodstamps. I currently make $175 a week after tax, and my girlfriend dosent have a job. We pay all our own expenses, apartment rent, car payments, groceries, etc.... Does anyone know if we qualify due to our ages?
Thankyou

We are family of 3 (brand new child under 1yr old). Husbands business has failed, and we live in area of extremely high unemployment. Tied down to big mortgage(worth more than we could sell our house for right now-bad market). Husband has seasonal/winter job paying min. wage (now $6.95 in our state) for about 25 hrs/wk. I have pretty well paying job with great benefits for our family, grateful for that much. I suppported him thru college for 3yrs and also for the last 3 yrs (6 yrs total). Tired of being primary/only bread winner, want to have it be equal 50/50, or have him support me for a while so I can go back to college and earn more $ for us. Starting to get anxious/overwhelmed being main provider. Not quite enough $ for bills now, all the "fat" has been trimmed(only spent $78 grocery last month). Need advice to deal with issue. Very anxious, tired, overwhelmed, panicked.

Okay. I know this could be a bad idea. I am considering adding my sister to my bank account temporarily. My account is in good standing. Hers isn't, and any money she deposits will be eaten up in back money owed. We have the same bank and she needs a way to deposit her checks. She is an indepedent contractor so most of her checks are for smaller amounts 50-100 each and she has multiple ones so a check cashing place w/ its fees isn't really feasible.

Basically will the bank let me add her even though her account is in the pits?

Brief background: Moved from one state to another for a job, which was lost. Income has dropped to about 50% of what it was. We've gone through our savings to try and pay things. Bring home pay now covers ONLY new house payment, utilities, groceries, life insurance, and government student loan. Have previously surrendered 2nd vehicle, (1st vehicle is paid in full). Old house in old state foreclosed on and being sold tomorrow. Credit cards remaining unpaid and sent for collections, etc.

My question is this: should bankruptcy proceedings begin or should we continue as is? What, if anything, can our creditors do to us (other than trash our credit - which has already happened). We live in Texas. I would appreciate any suggestions. However please refrain from replies such as "get a job", because we are both working full time jobs and have cut ALL unnecessary spending. We dread the thought of bankruptcy, but see no other alternative.

There are a lot of things I need to save for. Some are materialistic but some are realistic. Does anyone know of a good way to save money seriously? I need a mantra or something...

(I have 1 year of making my auto loan payments on time.)

1) I plan to take out a $500 secured personal loan from my bank for 6 months.

2) Then go to a different bank with the $500 and take out another secured personal loan from that bank for 6 months.

3) Repeat this once more at a third bank.

4) Establish a $300 security deposit account at my original bank to qualify for a secured credit card.

5) Repeat the process of getting a secured credit card at the next bank.

6) Repeat this once more at the third bank.

7) Obtain 2 more credit cards.

8) Pay back $500 secured personal loans from my banks in 6 months making all payments on time.

9) Use all 5 credit cards but never charge more than a maximum balance of 9% of the total credit card limit.

10) Pay off the statements as soon as they come and make all payments on time.

According to this FICO score estimator my resulting FICO score would be 740-790 in 1 year.

I am waiting for my offer letter from this new company I interviewed with. I have 8 years of secretarial experience, no degree just started working right out of HS. What do you think they'd offer me? They know my current salary is 38K.

OK, here is my dilemma. I have excellent credit but most banks seem to have a set interest rate for personal loans around 15%. If I finance the bike with a motorcycle loan my payments will be less but I have to have full coverage on the bike which is about $280 more per month. I'm only looking to spend around 6K. Give me some ideas.

Why should I have a vehicle to keep my mutual funds in? They are easily accessible when needed. I will be taxed at both points in time with or without a traditional IRA. The roth is not an option.
