There are a lot of things I need to save for. Some are materialistic but some are realistic. Does anyone know of a good way to save money seriously? I need a mantra or something...

1. If you don't NEED it, it is NEVER on sale.
2. If you don't buy it, you can save 100% or MORE, if you earn interest on the MONEY YOU NEVER SPENT!
3. If you pay yourself first, you will never have money leftover for careless impulse shopping.
4. Materialistic things don't define you -- Only God can.
5. The road to wealth is built one dollar at a time.

Look at this website. As Dave says, its "20% head knowledge, and 80% self-discipline." Open specific savings accounts for specific purposes - new car, vacation, college savings for the kids, whatever. Also, if your employer offers direct deposit into a variety of accounts, use that so you don't get your hands on what you are trying to save. Cash in the pocket is an awful temptation.

Whatever you earn, give a third (rent/bills etc), spend a third (on yourself/social life etc) and save a third. Works for me. Im loaded.
