I am waiting for my offer letter from this new company I interviewed with. I have 8 years of secretarial experience, no degree just started working right out of HS. What do you think they'd offer me? They know my current salary is 38K.

We've had a lot of trouble filling executive secretary positions at my company. (We call them "executive assistants" or EAs.) I work for a big telecom company and I'm pretty sure that the EA that just started on Monday is getting in the $50k range. The cost of living is high here (Washington, DC suburbs), though. Housing cost is a killer.

We have other positions here in the office that require a lot of smarts and office skills, but no particular education. These are currently paying $70k per year for contract postions. A college degree is not important but the ability to handle several things at once without complaining is critical. There's a lot of lingo to learn, too.
