I have two credit cards - both are EXTREMELY past due, one is overdrawn and one is close; and have thus affected my credit badly already. One credit card is three weeks away from writing off my debt and offered me a great settlement. I have come into a little bit of money, but not enough for both credit cards - so here are the two options i am debating between....
1) Let the one credit card write me off and pay the other credit card in full.
2) Take the settlement on the one card, in which case I would probably have to wait for the second card to offer a settlement as well and then pay that off when that settles as well.

I'm wondering which will be better for my credit. I know either way I'm in a lot of trouble with my rating but which would be LESS bad? One paid in full and one write off; or two settlements?
I'm leaning towards the one paid in full and one write off because I would be out of debt NOW, but I really would like to work on my credit rating. Any advice would be great

My father died a while ago and our family have a few decisons to make related to the "assets" iin the family. They have a property which is very very good (worth alot) and we can either sell or keep it so it remains in the family. If we were to sell it, lets say i would be wealthy, OR i could take on the farm and battle for the next i dont no how long BUT at least it is still in the family. Also i couldnt stand the thought of these "snakes" (neighbours) who have been after the farm for years buying it!

So do i take on the farm or sell and live by the beach? what do u think? its a bit more complicated than that but thats what i basically need to decide.

the house sits in a high end location. It strattles two lots. It needs a lot of work to fix and would have to be gutted and added on to. Some say the lots are worth 150k each - the appraisal is 195k for the house and land - homes up the street are getting 695k- it seems like a tear down is logical because if we build onto the house it makes the value of the house too high to tear down for the lots - so a builder won't touch it. I guess you can tell I'm confused. Signed; help in Nashville.

I have question about credit card minimum payment.
I have say a credit card of say a credit limit $1000 and a balance $500. The minimum payment is $25. Suppose I buy something worth say $50 and return it back immediately, then the store is first going to charge $50 to my card and then when I return the item credit back those $50 to my credit card.

So I was wondering does this $50 Credit Back from the store count towards my minimum balance payment?

In short, does any Credits that are posted to your card count towards your minimum balance payment?

I turn 18 in a month, early-graduate high school in December. I have a place to move into in Jan. 07 for $225 +utilities. I've got $3000 in savings (but would prefer to not have to spend it all). I've got a part-time job, and am looking to work full-time starting Jan. Considering all things, would I be placing myself in a bad position if I were to move in, and expect that I could find a full-time job in Jan.? Also, can I get a percentage based budget? Please keep in mind I will be receiving absolutely no financial support from others.

Due to some bad choices on my part, I no longer have a bank account! The worst part is that I'm in Chexsystems now ::tear::! I'm tired of going to the check cashing stores and paying ridiculous fees! Are there any banks that believe in "second chances". A savings account would be GREAT, but if I can get a checking account, I'd be so thrilled!

Can anybody give me some advice on this one??? It really would be a major help!

After your car is repossessed for non-payment on the loan, do you still have to pay the full amount of the loan? Or just the part that was past due?

My wife had not been home for Christmas in 5 years, we had a new born nephew we hadn't seen yet, and neither of us make abundant amounts of money. We live humble lives and don't have things outside our needs. After Hurricane Katrina struck, the plane ticket prices skyrocketed. Trying to be a good husband, I took out some payday loans to help us out. I don't have family or a network of friends to borrow from. I found myself stuck. I was repaying the finance charges each month, and had to take out more loans to pay them off. In June I couldn't pay the rates anymore. At one point it was $1,400 a month! My bank became overdrawn and my account was closed. I've made arrangements with a few of the companies to repay them, but not all of them. I was threatened with jail last week. Can I be prosecuted? Some people say that as long as I didn't take the loans out with intent to commit fraud, I'm safe. Others are saying differently. Please help!
