Does this seem odd or what? Recently, I cancelled my home phone service after being a customer for over 25 years. About 2 weeks later, I received a check, from them; for the amount I had credited. Which was all good! However; about a week later, I received a bill from them stating: "Total Amount Due: $$. Payment Due By: Upon Receipt". So, why would I get a bill AFTER receiving a CHECK for cash credit, owed to me? There was no explanation included. The only thing I can think of is maybe they over paid me on the credit that was sent to me. And, If that was the case it should have been documented. Should I pay it, or not? Hmm! Maybe, it s a SCAM!

This is a confusing statement to put on a bill that was received for the first time--it would make more sense if you had previously received a bill and didn't pay it for some reason or another (forgot, on vacation, didn't have enough money, whatever). I got one from a third-party seller for a medical device received in a health care facility about six weeks prior to getting the bill in the mail. In my case, it seems illegal and I am pursuing the issue with the medical clinic I had gone to (my regular doctor's facility). If it is not illiegal, it should be, and I suspect foul play because when I called that third-party company to ask when it was due, they treated me like they were a collection agency and were talking to me about a past-due account. If you are a company that bills people, don't send this kind of bill unless you have already failed to receive payment from a previously billed account.

That means that payment is due as soon as you receive the bill. Usually past due accounts or bills that came with a product will have that on them.
You don't have a specific due date . But it should be paid as soon as possible. The company will probably only allow for mail time and then start calling you.

So if the bill arrives in the mail and I happen to be out of town for the weekend, does that mean the bill is "overdue"? What BS! I think it's lazy. Just put the frickin' due date ON THE BILL!

It means they expect you to pay immediately. Unlike some bills that give you a target date in the future they expect payment as soon as you recieve the invoice.
