How can I check the validity of an International Money Order before I take the risk of depositing the money in my account? There's one coming my way, but I am not going to put it in my bank or cash it until it is verified. I get nervous about this. I was told that it was in the amount of $4,800, but I don't believe this to be legal. Thoughts?

I took a better paying job but I am now losing my medicad because I make too much money. My son's wheel chair alone costs anywhere from 22-25 thousand dollars, on top of the numerous operations he will be having in the near future. Social Security pays $400.00 a month for a cargiver to come in and help me with my son. My new health insurance will not cover him because it is a pre-existing condition. I am caught between a rock and a hard place. Does anyone know what I can do to care for my son without drowning in my financially?

I wrote a check a while ago that was never cashed. How long do I need to keep tracking it in my checkbook before I can assume it's just not going to be cashed? After that point, will banks actually reject it if someone tries to cash it?

In the state of Texas, how much should a family of two adults and two childeren (both under three years old) make every year to live comfortably? Comfortably doesn't mean luxerious. It means to be in the middle middle income level of society.

I owe £17k on two credit cards and am struggling to keep up with the repayments. I do not own my own home so do not have any equity. The credit cards are not coming down due to the high interest and I cannot seem to get another one so I can at least transfer the balance to a 0% rate.

My combined income with my partner is £30k per year and we thought about getting a 125k mortgage to buy a small property and also to pay off the debt (but none of us have a great credit rating)

Does anyone know who would possibly help with either a mortgage or a £17k long term loan so we can get out of this financial mess.

If I make an international bank transfer whilst abroad (from my British account into the Dutch account of my new estate agents) and the amount is slightly more than the funds I have in my account, can it draw the funds for the transfer from my pre-agreed overdraft?

I couldn't see a reason why not, but then you never know...

I'd call the bank except of course it's the bank holiday weekend and no-one's there!

Thanks,
Jane
