I've been working at my job for about three weeks. Not to brag, but I know I have done very well since I am more of a people person and good at communication when it comes to sales. Last night, a friend and I worked with a new employee, he is 18 and was hired on Thursday. But he told us last night that he was our new shift manager. He does not know how to do anything, he has a horrible temper when it comes to doing anything for the job, he charges customers too much, he is also very rude to the customers. Another fact is that he is the son of the manager's friend. So my question is, is this appropriate? More over, is this even right for my manager to do? He does not know how to do anything and could possibly ruin the company's customer service reputation. I really like this job, it's the first one I've enjoyed, even though I've had gread displeasure about my managers. Sadly I think I have to look for a new job already. I don't understand what kind of manager would do that.

I work for a bank in michigan and we are in a really tough economy- which has folks on end about their finances. It seems I am getting a record number of overdraft fee reversal requests and for the most part if I see the customer's history has been pretty consistant, I will offer to refund a few fees. That's how I handle every inquiry but more often then none, I get the in my face angry person who feels it's my fault I overdrew their account. Now, I been in the industry for 11 years and I know my stuff but these people refuse to take responsibility for their finances and come in once or twice a month to "beg" for refunds (some resort to lying which makes me sad) all this turmoil has me so on end and personally frustrated. How can I "take the heat" in these situations while maintaining a professional appearance? Any thoughts on what I can say to these customers'? I hope there are some custoemr service gurus out there to help : )

My employer just gave me a pay increase from 10 to 11 an hour. I was happy because I thought it was a raise based on my performance. It turns out that it was the new hire rate that they start people at. I am annoyed because they started someone new out at that rate with no experience or skills and I am having to deal with training her. I on the other hand, am certified in my job title, and have two years exp. Do most employers do this or am I getting screwed over? I am a good employee and volunteered and paid to get my certification.

...which is used in the trial balance, does not agree with the total of the debtors ledger. A contra of £5,000 has been entered correctly in the induvidual ledger account but has been entered on the wrong side of both control accounts.
A batch total sales of £12,345 has been entered in the double entry system as £13,345, although the individual ledger account entry for these sales were correct. The balance of £4,000 on sales returns account has inadvertently been omitted from the trial balance though correctly entered in the ledger accounts.

What is the journal entry to correct the above?
