In the most general sense, Cash Flow is simply the flow of cash through the business over time.

Here's the website. It gives an example on how to calculate it different instances of cash flow.

Cash flow can be looked at in another way, as the average daily balance in your checking account. Your earnings are deposited into the account, your bills are paid from the account. This is the amount of money which you receive and expend over time in the daily business of doing business.
