Disciplinary procedures: The punishments given out to insure order and the code established to maintain it and codify it.

Grievance procedures: The complaint system so underlings can file complaints against their superiors or others; without fear of retribution.

Authority and accountability: Authority is the power to command while accountability is a way to hold those in command to a standard and not let them abuse their powers.

Functions: the job itself and the procedures done to do that job and to achieve the goal of producing the final product.

Health and safety in the workplace: The environment and the rules that govern to make sure it is a safe one, typically in the US they are set by OSH (Occupational Safety and Heatlh)
According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_safety_and_health
“cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. As a secondary effect, OSH may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, suppliers, nearby communities, and other members of the public who are impacted by the workplace environment.”

Workplace culture: The environment itself; are dogs allowed, is it a loose or tight work environment, what is the dress code; are jeans allowed, are there casual Fridays? Plus the attitudes of the job; lawyers have to look professional and need to impress clients, but those working in a construction shop can be more flexible and culture. Computer jobs run the entire gambit from the white shirt and black tie required by IBM to anything goes for many of the dot com companies.

Motivation and incentives: Pay and benefits that keep workers on the job.

Recruitment: Hiring new employees and finding those that are qualified for the work place.

Retention: Procedures to KEEP the employees working at the job and glad to be there.
