WE WERE TOLD TO CALL HOME OWNERS INSURANCE, THE THING IS WE CANT FIND OUR PAPER WORK FROM THE HOUSE/CONTRACT. THEY SENT A TECHNITIAN WHO ONLY SAID WAS GOING TO GIVE HIS REPORT TO A SUPERVISOR OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO FIND OUT ABOUT IF INSURANCE WOULD COVER IT , THAT HAPPENED LAST TUESDAY, SO FAR WE CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND ONLY GOT TOTHE POINT OF THEY APPROVING US TO CALL SOMEBODY TO MAKE ANOTHER ESTIMATE OR QUOTE CHECK AND HAVE THEM CALL TO SEE IF THEY WLD COVER IT. WE HAVE BEEN W/OUT TOILETS AND SHOHWER FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS! (THE PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE THE TIME WE CALLED, AND I FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT WE HAD AT THE BEGINING WHICH TOOK ABOUT 3 DAYS TO FIX, WE WEREN'T GONNA COMPLAINT BEFORE, BUT THIS IS A MAJOR DISASTER). WHAT SHOULD WE DO OR WHAT OPTIONS DO WE HAVE?

I saw a 'teaser' for a news program about this like a year ago, and it's been nagging at the back of my mind since then...

Are you generally insured for a specific amount (the appraisal at time of sale)? If I lost everything tomorrow and I got the full amount of what the structure appraised for at the time of sale, then I'd only be able to build a house half the size on my property in the current market. I really have no clue about all this...

Is it necessary to take the rental car companies insurance or do our credit cards or personal insurance really cover damages or theft or fire if something happens to a rental car?

Last year it was insured for 1600 sq ft. This year they decided (on their own wihtout measuring it) that it is 3,000 sq ft!
Even the town taxes me at 1400 sq ft! The insurance company said the town does that to help ppl save on taxes but I'm not so sure I believe them. This town is money hungry. Its not like them to try to help someone. Unless they can help you part with your money.

My house is 1&1/2 story. The upstairs walls are slanted inwards in all rooms but one and the short hallway. It is a 4 bedroom but very small rooms.
The insurance company said to times length by width and then add 1/2 of that for the upstairs. Is that right? I'm not sure I believe them. All they want is my money!

My vehicle had just been damaged by hail a week ago. I have about $1500 worth of damages. It is very minor and only noticeable if you really look closely. I got a check from my insurance made out to me and ME ONLY. There is no leinholder or bank name on it beside my name. Anyways....do I have to use the check for repairs or can I use it for whatever? When I trade in the vehicle, I will take some loss for it anyways towards the value...so either way, I can get it fixed with the money now or just take a loss later for it right? Can I just deposit the check in my bank and use it toward bills? Can I get in trouble for it? I still owe money on the car too by the way. What can I do?

I know the ideal would be to get a full-time job with benefits, but if that isn't possible, how can I protect myself without paying an unnecessary fortune? Should I get a more basic plan like "major medical", or is that useless because of the huge deductible? What other options are out there?

My husband was installing carpet a clients house when the owners dog attacked my husband in the face. He had to be closed by a plastic surgeon and will have to have another surgery 1 year from now. He is DEVASTATED that his face is permanetaly scarred and now he is having nightmares and is ashamed to leave the house for fear that people will stare at him. Long story short...We are not getting a lawyer involved, but what is a fair settlement to accept out of this. We are thinking 65,000 is fair....but have never dealt with this before. Thanks for any help

I really need to switch health plans but I missed the deadline. I can only change if I have a special reason to change. I called and explained to the representative that my current insurance is not accepted in many physician's offices and that I need to see a dermatologist. He told me that this is not a special reason and my insurance should help me find a physician. I have tried it, but the doctor's they give me do not accept my insurance. I tell the insurance this but they still don't make any changes. For the doctors that do accept it, I have to wait till July to see them, and I really need to see them now. Can you think of a special reason I can give so that I can change health plans? Thanks, I really appreciate it!!!!

It happened today. I believe it was my fault. I called the police, they said we didn't need an officer as long as noone was hurt. The other driver was so shook up she called her husband and he told her the same thing thepolice told me..to exchange info. We exchanged all info but I didn't tell her I didn't have insurance. I had just been in an argument with another shopper for locking her dog in her hot car and was very shook up.
I'm NOT excusing myself. What should I do now to make this right. She didn't show me her insurance so I don't know who she has. Will I have to pay her or the insurance Co.? Can I have them get more then one quote? I will make this right , help me please.

My company used-to pay 100% of employee and family health premium. Now, they're asking the employees to contribute, $125/mo for employee, $400/mo for employee+family. They're giving a 1 month notice. Is this fair? Thanks!
