A plan that pays you per day that you are hospitalized is called and Indemnity Plan.

These plans are designed to pay a fixed amount to you usually beginning on your first or second day in the hospital.

Hospital Indemnity plans pay for each day you are in the hospital. These are available even if you have health insurance.

Disability plans pay you when you can't work due to an illness or injury. These plans pay when you are at home recovering from a hospital stay. They usually have a deductible called an elimination period. This is a number of days before the insurance payments start.

Go talk to a licensed insurance agent in your area to determine what will work best for you.

That would be disability coverage - but it usually pays on a per month basis, and there is usually a waiting period.

Hmm. Workers comp might apply, it pays lost wages. After a waiting period, subject to limitations.

Is an absolute waste of money. A much more prudent option would be short or long term disability insurance, depending upon your financial resources.
