WE WERE TOLD TO CALL HOME OWNERS INSURANCE, THE THING IS WE CANT FIND OUR PAPER WORK FROM THE HOUSE/CONTRACT. THEY SENT A TECHNITIAN WHO ONLY SAID WAS GOING TO GIVE HIS REPORT TO A SUPERVISOR OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO FIND OUT ABOUT IF INSURANCE WOULD COVER IT , THAT HAPPENED LAST TUESDAY, SO FAR WE CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND ONLY GOT TOTHE POINT OF THEY APPROVING US TO CALL SOMEBODY TO MAKE ANOTHER ESTIMATE OR QUOTE CHECK AND HAVE THEM CALL TO SEE IF THEY WLD COVER IT. WE HAVE BEEN W/OUT TOILETS AND SHOHWER FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS! (THE PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE THE TIME WE CALLED, AND I FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT WE HAD AT THE BEGINING WHICH TOOK ABOUT 3 DAYS TO FIX, WE WEREN'T GONNA COMPLAINT BEFORE, BUT THIS IS A MAJOR DISASTER). WHAT SHOULD WE DO OR WHAT OPTIONS DO WE HAVE?

OK, are you talking about a home warranty policy, or a homeowners policy?

The standard homeowners policy will cover the water damage done by your plumbing fixture that bursts, breaks, or otherwise misbehaves, but won't pay to fix the problem itself.

So the FIRST thing, is identify the exact problem. I'd get a plumber out there TOMORROW, to find the problem and get it fixed. SAVE ALL THE PARTS, don't let the plumber throw any of them away. Any damage he has to do to get to the pipes, through the walls and such, is usually ALSO covered.

You don't NEED paperwork, just call your agent. But you DO need to fix the problem. Procede as if it's not covered, and get it fixed. BUT SAVE EVERYTHING. Take pictures. Fix the problem first, worry about the claim second.

Insurance companies don't send "technicians". They'll send an adjuster out to inspect the damage, but he'll probably be relying heavily on the plumber's report.

REGARDLESS of whether or not it's covered, you need water. So get the problem fixed first.

In home insurance, damage caused by leaking internal pipes is a covered peril, but that's not what you're asking about.

Maintenance is not covered by insurance.

Repair of plumbing is not covered by insurance.

If your roof leaked, the damage caused by the leaking water might be covered, but the repairs to the roof would not be. This is a similar thing here, except that it doesn't sound like the covered part (internal damage from water that isn't ground water) exists.

Likewise, auto insurance won't pay to fix your car if the car doesn't work.

Home owners insurance would probably reimburse you for damages if a pipe broke and flooded part of your house, but is NOT likely to cover regular plumbing problems.

Personally, I'd call a plumber and get it fixed. If insurance isn't going to cover it, you'll still have to have it done.

Good luck.
