My son was murdered in a car that I rented. I declined the insurance and my son was not listed as a driver. The car company has billed me for over $8 thousand dollars for the damages. I know they also have insurance on the car and the power to write this off considering my son died in the car. I have asked them to reconsider this since the damange was done in the commission of a murder. Further, they sent me about 10-12 graphic photos in the mail of the bullet riddled car along with my son's blood. Never a condolence...just pay us our money. It's very traumatizing. This happened 4 months ago. Also, I rented the car with my VISA debit card and don't have any benefits. Is there any legal help for me?

My husband has been with United Healthcare for years. I have been using Blue Cross but they do not cover maternity. If I get on my husband's insurance- am I going to have to wait to use it?

I realize the best thing to do is call the insurance company (which I will) but I am curious to ask the very knowledgeable folks here on Yahoo answers first :) Thanks for your help!

My house was broken into and the bastards took a small safe with jewelry of my husbands mother (R.I.P.) I never saw the jewelry cause my husband is very sentimental and nevr showed it to me. All I know is that she had a lot of jewelry and a tennis bracelet worth $600.00 cause he bought for her (she had earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings all gold. I know cause I inquired with the mom's sisters). The insurance lady told us to come up with a number but we just don't wanna make up a number that is too extravagant. What should we do or what is a decent number to come up with???

I recently had a baby and was on CA State Disability & CA Paid Family Leave. I was still making payments to my employer every 2 weeks for health insurance just like when I was working. Is that right? It doesn't seem fair that if you aren't working and getting your normal wages that you should have to pay for your health insurance but then on the other side I was still using my medical coverage to have the baby and go to my post pregnancy appointments. Does anyone know the CA law on this issue?

My mother passed away and had credit card bills. She had no estate (property, etc). She did have some money from an insurance policy when my Father passed away. I have this money in my possession. Am I responsible for the credit card debt? Can the credit card companies come after me?

Our homeowners insurance doubled this year. The cost is really impacting our ability to pay the premium. Every company we have talked to insist that we insure to replacement cost which of course drives the premium through the roof. They say that replacement cost of our home would be over 350,000. We live in a home that is 140 years old and I agree that there isn't enough money to replace the character of this home. We live in the Midwest. We are not in a flood plain and have never turned in a claim in the 16 years we have lived on this property. My question is this. Can we legally insure this home for just the amount that we owe on it? Are there any companies out there that will do this?
I don't mind paying a fair premium but I do mind paying for disasters across this country in which I had no control over.

I was in an accident about 3 weeks ago...I was rear-ended. My claims adjuster told me last Wednesday that I would be receiving a $500 check in the mail from the other guy's company to cover the deductible I owe the body shop. It's been over a week since my adjuster told me that and still no check. I'm a single mother who's struggling to make it and I haven't been able to pay the $500 deductible to get my car back, which means i've been struggling to find ways to get to my job. Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive a check like that? I really need my car back!

I was hit a few months ago by an under-insured mortorist. His (mom's) policy was only worth $25,000.00, barely enough to cover my emergency care bills. Not to mention all my orthopedic follow-ups and physical therapy. My medical insurance does not cover injuries incurred by a third party. My lawyer has checked all options for extra coverage, and says the next step would be to file a law suit against the other driver. He was clearly at fault (ran a red light, caught on camera), but I don't think guy has any money. The lawyer said the guy could just file bankruptcy to avoid paying anything. How does it work if you sue someone, and they have no money to pay?
