If so, how did you deal with it? (sleep wise) Did you get used to it? Now that I've graduated, I'm out in the workforce and I'm wondering if I'll ever get used to these long hours. I started about 1.5 months ago and a friend told me that I'll eventually get used to and that I'll eventually become more resilient? Do you agree with this? Based on what you've experienced?

There are several large insurance companies in my town. I have a bachelors degree in management with an HR focus. I took several general business courses and took an insurance course. I also have basic knowledge of insurance through my HR courses and my 3 months at my current HR job. I want to become an underwriter and was wondering if someone with a business degree could get into the field? A friend who works at a large insurance firm says yes it's very possible. Any comments?

I interviewed with a great company two weeks ago. The person who interviewed me said it would take a week to make their decision. After my interview, I wrote a thank you letter to my interviewer. Last week, I called my interviewer to ask if I was still being considered a candidate, and she sounded really positive. She said the process was taking a little longer than expected. It has been a week since I talked to her. Should I e-mail the HR department and ask them if they intend to hire me?

I was promoted at the end of July. I hired a replacement for my old front desk position and have moved into my new position. My new responsibilities began on 9/5/07. We had begun the negotiations of my raise a few weeks ago and I was told that I would have an answer by the end of that week, then the next week, etc. I am supposed to have an official answer of what my raise will be by the end of today. Should I recieve back pay? If I started my new responsibilities 2 weeks ago, shouldn't I be paid for this? What does California Labor Law state? Thank you for your help.

I am looking for a Manufacturing/Project/Process Engineer job that will require lots of international travel. How do I go about finding a job that would let me travel? Is there a website that has a listing of all these types of jobs that are now looking to hire? (I am not looking for a sales position).

A temp recruiter sent me for an interview at a specific pay rate an hour and I didn't hear anything for a few days and he calls me eventually to say I can start soon but he and the HR guy at the job need to settle on a price and the HR guy says that price he mentioned an hour for that job is too high! can I be flexible and do 2 to 1 dollars less...I said yes so the offer would not be taken from me but damn he clearly told HR a specific price and now want to chang it...I need a job and was so excited about the rate but now feel like I am beig screwed...? I already agreed to be flexible but also I was brought in under one impression and now feel I have to take less I want the original rate...would it be wrong to say I want what I was told? will the offer be ungranted if I say i want the original price? I don't kow what to do but don't feel it is worth it for a new rate...the original one was just right...help a young adult to choose I know u have more experience than me, what do I do?

I recently applied for a new position. My usual MO is to wait 3 days and call to ensure that my application materials were received, with the underlying goal of introducing myself to the person who is looking to fill the position. However, I received an email stating that my application materials have been received. So how do I follow up?

Thanks in advance!

I found out yesterday that I am being laid off. Although I was shocked, it is no surprise that the company has not been doing well. They have been having a hard time retaining clients and then the owner decided that she wanted to take the company in a diffrent direction. Anyway, the would like for me to stay on until the end of this month and they don't mind if I utilize my working hours to seek employment. They offered me three week severance pay and three weeks medical.

Is this a good deal. I've never been fired or laid off before, so I'm not sure what I should expect.

I'm graduating with a finance degree in two years, and am quite unsure of which area of the country i'd like to make a living, at least initially.

I've lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area my entire life, but i'd love to experience a change of venue.

I'm considering the following cities, all obviously have their financial pro's/cons, etc etc. but what do yall think would be an awesome place to start out of the following cities/locations?

San Francisco, Phoenix, Chicago, New york City, Florida, Seattle.

Any rec's/advice? thanks.

I am currently going to college to earn a degree in pyschology. after my BS eventually I would naturally go on to get my masters and PhD, that's the goal and that's the plan. but by that time I achieve that goal. (believe me I will). I would be probably at the age of 27 and I would like to start my family then.

The problem.... If I am to have a doctorate or even masters right out of graduate school, how can i start my family? I would not want to wait until after Im 30. but I would like to jump start my career as well, I do realize that it would take me a while to establish myself among those in the same profession.

I would like suggestions on career paths that I can research in my line of study that would permit me to have a family.

and I would like some first or second accounts of women who have "done it all"

Thanks

I wouldn't mind accounts from men but men don't carry babies for 9 months and go thru all the things career women do.
