Proof reading is an art. Some people are good at it, but must people are terrible. Just contact the recruit offices of any places that writes anything, send them your resume. Chances are one of them will give you some work, and if you are any good they will give you more and more work.
You might also try doing a short editing course to aid you in the pursuit of this.
Also if you are studying something related at college (media, communication, english literature) it will help.
Generally though the job options at college are like this.
1st year. McD, supermarket, cleaner etc
2nd year. Sales, promotions, some office work.
3rd year. Some entry level career related work.
4th year. Some serious career related work.
So don't be stuck, just do your best to get the best job you can get now (and in the future nows that come along)

Realistically speaking, companies hire the best applicant and if you are with applicants with degrees you chances will be very small. it will always be a competition out there, so try to get that degree so in the future you can not only choose the type of job you like, you can also climb that corporate ladder and make something out of yourself.

Well, a lot of people hold very important positions in companies who do not have degrees. They did it the old fashioned way of working their way up through the company, and learning as much as they could at every step. Getting a college degree just speeds up the process-- a lot!

you can try looking for one while in school. if your at a major university, your chances of finding that kind of job is greater. some might require you to have already passed certain classes to fill in the job.
good luck.
