Find out about the culture of the company (mission statement, ceo letter to investor, website) and merge it with why you would be a good fit. Also, for accounting, mention that you have good attention to detail, are meticulous, work well with others, but also individually as well, etc. etc.

When you answer questions in a job interview you want to try and relate them to the job.
If you are an accountant, do you need to be a leader?????
So, the question is why should they choose you. What makes you special. Not why you are better, there are probably better people being interviewed, but what is special about you.
For example. if I was applying for an accounting internship I would say something like.
"Well I don't know the other people applying for this work, but I know that I concentrate well, and have a high attention for detail. I don't get frustrated when trying to solve a difficult problem. While I am a fairly quiet person, I think I am a good communicator. That is, I can get my message across clearly, without using too many words".
Then to make it easier for them to give me the job I would have actually said.
"Well I don't know the other people applying for this work, but I think I have the sort of personal qualities that suit this type of work. I know that I concentrate well, and have a high attention for detail. Something I understand is important in accounting. I don't get frustrated when trying to solve a difficult problem. I know that sometimes accountants have to go through lots of information trying to solving book keeping errors. I once asked my father's accountant what qualities are important in an accountant. He said that what many accountants lack is good communications skills. That is they have trouble explaining what the numbers mean. While I am a fairly quiet person, I think I am a good communicator. That is, I can get my message across clearly, without using too many words. ".

Tell them that you are the most dedicated person you know. You have a great sense of responsibility and punctuality. Also mention that you have great organization, leadership and time management skills. But by far the best thing you can say when they ask you about your weakness is "I have intolerance for the status quo. I believe that when you bring in a new person for any position, current employees should take the opportunity to rise to the occassion. Simply remaining static is not going to promote the company." Works everytime.

You want to know what accomplishments you have had and how you benefitted other companies you worked for. If you don't have much work experience, this can apply to clubs you belong to or even volunteer work you do. When you can give statements like, "I am dependable. I worked two years for Burger King and only missed one day of work that whole time." or " I was given the "Most New Busines" award for sales three years in a row.", it shows you aren't just talk. Bring copies of any certificates from training or awards, just in case you have the opportunity to promote yourself. Don't be embarrassed. This is your time to sell yourself, it is expected. I have interviewed hundreds of people and appreciate when the candidate has prepared ahead of time. It shows me how much he wants my job. Pick out your qualities and decide what you can say,and/or show, to prove it

you can say you're a multi-tasker, you work well under pressure, and if you could rate yourself you would be a 9 out of 10 because you are at the top of your game but you are flexible enough to know that there's always room for improvement. be confident of your abilities and stress on the skills you have that can be considered an 'extra' in your line of work.

Tell them that assuming all things are equal (education, experience, skills), you believe in the values of hard work and dedication to the job. You cannot guarantee that you'll be the best choice but you can assure them that you'll give your best.
