I'm going to have to drive. i know that sounds crazy, but the thing is i'm scard of driving and busy roads, traffic. The reason for this fear is two reason, reason one my ex bf of 5years was a crazy driver, took to many risks all the time, reason two i was involed in a very bad Accident while being in the car with my ex, when he was driving, his head nearly got cut off, i saw the back off the truck inside our car. we both were fine lucky for us tho. but the thing is i'm very nervous and got pretty much no confidence behind the wheel. i do have a Licence and i do know how to drive, i'm just scared as, i have driven a car well over a year and 6 months. is there any advice, tips, website that can help me a little in such short time. i only have a few hours to get my self ready for this. what sould i do, this job means everything to me. and i think the area it is in has very busy roads ect. please help me..........

I have spent the last fifteen years raising my three children and would love to start a career. Is there anything out there for me? I am so afraid to be the oldest in the college classroom - I already feel old enough. (I am 42)

My boss recently returned from medical leave for 6 months. While he was gone I did his job, and now he's a raging jerk and trying to make me look bad in front of his boss. Like I didn't know what I was doing! Not everything was perfect, but I got along without him, and I don't appreciate him now acting like I screwed everything up or that if he was here it would've been much better. How should I react?

I been working in a factory for 8 years, was in management on a production line. Got ill and out of commission for 5 months to return and have a new unexperienced person in your job and guess what, you now work under this person on your line you had.
Well no prob, I been planning for a year to leave to re-open my old company back up and had vacation days approved, advertisement set up to release all in a timely schedual. Then all of a sudden this new manager starts taking vacation days away and telling me I cant have them just before I get off the day before. now I have to take off and gt hours against me.
Well, this goes on for 2 weeks, the 3rd week the day before I am schedualed for a 2 week leave I am told again they was cancelled. I talk to head of HR about it (not mentioning what my plans has been) and he says np, I can straighten this out. An hour later I get canned, but the funny part was I was gonna come in one day after my 2 week vacation and quit?
Laugh or be POed?

I got called on Monday because they wanted to ask me more questions like if I could work in the morning and not in the afternoon like they at first said, I said yes that would be fine, then they asked I had anymore questions I said when can I start they both laughed and said I really liked that. Then said they would hope to call me back with a decision soon. So what do you think? Should I call back and check if so when?? Oh and then today 05/22 another place called me for an interview for the same position just different location, but I really want the first one. PLEASE HELP!

I just had to fill out an application for customer service, and one of the questions was, what experience do you have with "cold calling."
What the heck is that?
Thanks everyone in advance

I don't drive...honestly I don't have a DL....When I was told that I would have to do some driving..I lied and told the manager that it is expired and I haven't renewed it because I don't drive...because I was in a car accident...now he is asking me about it again...I'm not sure ifI should tell him the truth and risk losing my job...But the job description did not say anything about driving and I did not apply to be a driver either!!! This info was NOT given to me untill my first day on the job...What should I do?? CAN THEY DO THIS???

Example, a store which in the past allowed employees to smoke during their breaks outside the back door now has a policy that states that there is "no smoking allowed on company property, including the loading docks." The only place that the smokers are allowed to smoke is in their cars in the parking lot during their breaks. What do you think?

We are going to have to replace an employee that isn't working out. The management team is deciding which is the best plan of action. Place a blind ad for her position so that we won't have a hole in the workstaff until we find a replacement (a warm body is better than no body approach) or two, fire her then advertise for her position so that we can search without secrecy (the sometimes no body is better approach). Have you ever replaced an employee while they were still employed? Which approach did you take and why?

I am a professional that took time out of my career to have my baby. I'm now looking to go back to work (sort of). I've turned down some offers, but I had one last week that I thought would be good for my experience etc. They offered me the job but the money was less than I was asking. I thought about it over the weekend and then called back Monday as planned and told them I am interested in the job but I'd like more money than they were offering. The recruiter said he would pass it on and let me know. It's been 8 days now and he has not called or e mailed. He told me once on the phone that he always heard my kids making noise in the background and wanted to know if I was ready for this job and if that would in any way affect my job performance. I'm wondering why he has not called. The kids or the money? Any suggestions? My kids are my job right now and I don't see why it would be a problem for them to make noise in the background. But I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions.

I currently commute 15 min to work everyday and I enjoy my job. My annual salary is 50k. I got a job offer for 80k per year... but the commute is 1.5 hours (2 hrs including traffic) each way. I need to stay in the current area I'm in right now to, so I can't move. Do you think its worth it?

P.S. I live in Northern California

The first was with the HR recruiter, second with the woman who would be my direct supervisor and the third was to go in and shadow 2 people in the department. Before the 3rd the recruiter told me she was going to begin conducting my background checks and that they were looking to move fairly quickly. When I left this last time I was not given any indication as to what the next steps were or when they would be making a decision as the girl who I was shadowing was the one to walk me out. How long should I wait before following up?

I recently got this summer job as an office assistant. I feel out of place there and I don't know if I'm meeting their crazy needs anyway. It pays $11 an hour, but every morning before work I think about quitting. Then once I get there I'm like...this isn't so bad. I'm stuck, and can't make up my mind. I'd rather be doing film/video work, which doesn't have as steady pay, but I could be making a foolish decision leaving.
