Tell your supervisor that there is a concert that you want to go to, and that you are using a sick day to go to attend. I'm sure he'll appreciate the honesty and the advance notice. And if you don't need to skip the entire day, then you can just work part of the day and leave early.

If you really want to skip out then you need to become convincing. Call about an hour before time for work just bawling your eyes out. Make sure that he can not understand you. Finally have a friend get on the phone and tell the boss that you just got some bad news. I am sure that he will ask what is wrong and have your friend tell him that she is not really sure she just found you this way. That she can not understand you. Later when you return to work just tell the boss that you dont really know why you were so upset that you just had a melt down. They will all fell sorry for you and not want to ask too many questions.

Say you are going to the concert! or theres always you have a horrible couph and can barely talk or the stomach bug (e-mail the boss on that one) or you had a migrane the night before and still feel light headed and so you need to stay home so you don't get another. The stomach bug or the cough thing can back fire if someone else form work are at the concert!

you should say something womenly personal (lol i know its not a word) like.....man, i aint a girl so i cant think of anything. unless your boss is a woman, then i would suggest, you had to take care of your sick grandma and she has alzhaimers, so she can wonder off and get lost and never come back. and if she/he asks why couldnt someone else take care of her say that they had a doctors appointment or a surgery. well thats the best i can think of.

Why not just ask for the night off, see if someone can cover your shift. offer to work over the night before. if that does not work. just call in sick with the runs and a fever.

If your attendance record is good, you might be able to get away with just calling off sick without getting fired, as long as they don't find out that you lied. But realize that it's called "work" because you don't always get to do what you want to.

As a male employer I am a sucker when a woman says they have "female issues". I don't want to know anymore than that. You could try it. If your boss is like me, they aren't even going to ask for details.

Female problems. Especially if your boss is a man, he wont ask too many questions because he might be too embarassed. Have fun
