Welcome to the initial grind. You've been given several tasks that will really start to develop a feeling for the worst circumstances of the biz. Mainly, this is so you don't get a wrong impression of the finance industry. You will get attitude some time but if you continue to be polite, answer every question you can, and find an answer for all the questions you can't answer, you'll be doing quite well by the end of the summer doing easily what now seems difficult.

Good luck and welcome to the Finance industry!

PS: Finance is started with a capital letter because just like God, Finance is important! :)

it's normal what you need to learn is how to control your emotions! and how NOT to let others control them for you!

coping.org may help but that's more for soul searching

i strongly suggest going over your goals right them down put them by your phone and set up a filter in your head or even on a post it note! Say this " is this feeling, action, thought getting me closer to Goal? if the answer is no then stay focused. and find out what will!

If the phone calls are not getting you up a step in your life then you need to ensure it does!

Build your plan! who cares what other people say or think! it won't get you to your destination. will it?
think logically now will it?

How is me getting down in the dumps from some telling me i just interupted there dinner and now their child is screaming bloody murder. How is that my problem? it's not what is myproblem is when i let it into my life as it was my problem!
It won't change over night but THINK then take action on your feelings!

Direct cold call sales is one of the most difficult jobs to have. Debt collection comes in maybe higher. It takes a special kind of person to ignore being hung up on and put donw on call after call. Phone sales people are in general just a little bit more cold hearted than used car salemen.

You have to start somewhere!! And working your way from the bottom is the best experience!! I have a finance degree and my first job was hell as well, but you should see me now 3 years later!!
This job will get better with time, just do your best and your responsibilities will start to pick up fast!

Relax. If your job assignment right now is to call people on the phone trying to sell them something, don't be surprised to get attitude. Just try to stay polite to them.

Good luck. It's not you, it's the nature of the job.

Telemarketing ???

Get another job.

Go work for a Hotel Front Desk and Learn Auditing.

Then go work for a bank as a teller.

Then go to school for financing.

Telemarketing won't teach you jack, but to be a conman.
(sorry if I offend anyone who is a Legitimate Telephone CSR)
