If someone agrees to be a reference for me, is it necessary (or even protocol) to notify them beforehand if you know (and especially if you know for sure) that a potential will call him or her? Does it show courtesy (or that I'm a pain) if I notify the reference and ask him/her when it would be most convenient for them to take the call?

I've gotten different feedback about both questions, and I'm not sure what's the best action to do.

Two of my references are upper-level management from my past jobs. I don't want to give them for EVERY job I apply to because I don't want to impose too much or make them frustrated if they happen to get multiple calls. (Some places have screened references before they offered me the position.)

I just want to do the right thing. Can anyone help?

I watch three kids, a 1 year-old, a 9 year-old and a 13 year-old, from about 7:30 to 4:30 Monday - Friday. And now that school is out I have all three kids all day. I was getting paid $60 a week but it came out to about .18 cent's an hour so I told her $85 a week flat rate, and if they forget their luch it's an extra $2 and if she picks them up after 4:30 it's an extra $2 an hour. So what do you guys think, to much or not enough?

I started working at a fast food restaurant about a week ago. At the same time I applied for this job, I applied for a lifeguarding job as well, which I was more interested in. After starting the fast food job, the lifguarding job called me and hired me. I would rather have that one, but I have only worked at the fast food restaurant a few days; I haven't even finished my training yet. I really don't want to keep the fast food job, but I feel terrible for quitting so early. What should I do?

I had an interview a week and a day ago. I thought it went really really well. It was for a lending position which i havent done before but am currently studying for diploma in that field. I havent heard back from the job though. I tried calling yesterday but he wasnt in the office at that time. It is now weekend. I just cant think of a reason that it would take this long if they were going to give me the job. What do you think? Anyone had to wait over a week and got offered a job?

I have been very fortunate to be able to stay at home & raise my children. Both my husband & I worked very hard so I can do this. I am 47 yrs. old and have been looking for a job. I just get so intimidated by all the computer skills required to get a decent job. I just don`t have any confidence in myself. I use to be a bank supervisor for 8 yrs. Then I worked for another co. up until I had my daughter. I am very attached to my children but they are now 17 & 15 yrs. old and I really need to get my own life. Are their any other Mothers that can sugest a decent starter job. Is there anyone that can give me some advise on how they got back into the working field? Please Help! Thank You:)

I have been working for this entertainment company for over 2 years now booking and signing in guests. This is a seasonal/part--time gig. I work like 2 weekends a month. I like this job but it's not a stable company-- people are being fired left and right. Plus, there is a lot of drama going on-- people talking about each other etc. Any how, I just got offered this other job as an Office Manager.. closer to home, better hours, pay, better enviornment but they want me to quit this other job. I am having a hard time with that-- I know it's a lousy company but I want to return there for other events plus I don't want to leave them hanging... I don't know what to do. Please help.

I work at an AMC theater and one of my duties sometimes is cleaning the popcorn popper. Unfortunately I'm a little unsure about how to do it and if I ask for help again my coworkers probably won't be too happy. Can someone give me step-by-step instructions? I know there's know way to know if the popper you use and the one I use are the same, but I doubt the differences will be too major, so if I encounter them, I can work around them.

...to a job for a bit more money, but the company are awful. They only ever give me 1 day off a week, even though I keep insisting I want 2 a week, and now they say I can only take my annual leave if I have accumulated it. Ive never heard anything like this before. Should I leave this job and look elsewhere? I know 100% there are 2 places I could get another job, but what if they are just as bad? My dad is getting on at me saying there's no such thing as a perfect job, I know this, but I just don't want to have liberties taken, or be dictated to as to when I can have my holiday.what should I do?
