Go with your heart, but make sure that it is your dream job. The grass is always greener from the other side, and lots of jobs get tiring quickly. But remember that you won't be able to do as many of the weekend activities that you like now since your cashflow is less. Ultimately, happiness is worth more than any amount of money.

Depends! How much do you need the money right now? It's really important to have a job you love, but money also helps!!

Here's an idea:
Stay with your current job for a year or two.

Figure out how much you might make with the job you love.

Then, live off only what you would make with the job for less money putting the rest of the money in the bank.

This will accomplish two things. Give you a savings account and see how happy you really are living off less money.

Good luck!

This boils down to a pretty simple question...do you need the money?

If you do, then I'd stay with the job you don't like making great money until it isn't an issue, and then take the job you love and do it for less.

If you took a random sample of people, the younger the worker, the more likely they are in a job they don't like but do it for payment, and the older worker would take a job that they liked and didn't care too much about less pay. This is based on financial stability...older workers usually have more money saved, so earning on a consistently higher level isn't a priority.

Depends. What do you value? Money or loving your career? Only you can really answer that question.

You should factor this in, though: is the difference in cost from the job you hate significant enough to affect your non-work life enough to make you unhappy? You basically have to balance this out: your job is 40+ hours of your week. That is a long time to be unhappy, and it will take its toll. BUT... that leaves over 120 hours of your week that is NOT work. If you will make less enough money at the job you love to make that 120 hours miserable, then it may be worth staying at the sucky job. BUT... that sucky job is going to impact your other 120 hours, too. Balance. Find YOUR balance, and you're all set. Unfortunately, no one here can tell you what your balance is. It is different for everyone.

Just a couple of answers (won't get you rich tho). One is to use any spare room in your home as storage for businesses (recrods). Storage is expensive. Second is pet care. Start off small looking after cats say. Good money and you can build up as the business grows. Very easy business to run and real easy money. Third idea is the standard selling online. Buy from Asia via the internet, and resell via say ebay or whatever. Sorry nothing more interesting. But at least these are not scams like most tend to be. Good luck.

Can you survive off the one you love for less money? Is there room for advancement in the one you love? Is there a place in the company you are at now that you might like and maybe pay the same or more?

If the one you love is alot less and you would have to cut your expenses alot i wouldnt take it. You can leave work at work but what are you going to do on the weekends if you can barely make rent?

money is not everything, having a job that you hate is not good for you. if you spend 8 hrs a day hating life then you are spending half of your awake hours in misery. you will probably carry this attitude over into your off hours as well until you have had time to unwind. being in a bad mood will affect you and it will affect your friends and family as well.this is not a healthy mental atmosphere. take a little paycut and spend your day doing something you love and it will have a great effect on your attitude and your friends and family will enjoy hearing more about the positive day you had than the complaining about how bad your day was. do this and enjoy more happiness for rest of your life.

Lets evaluate the positives: One has money so you can afford the finer things, pay bills off etc.... One you love so you wake up every morning happy to go to work, you smile and am generally cheerful.

Now lets evaulate the negatives: One you cant stand your job, you are angry and it makes you hate it. One is less money, less new stuff, less cash etc...

Now lets acess your values: Do you need more money? How much less would you be making? I mean is it like going from making 100,000K a year to making 25,000 K a year? or is like going from making 32,000 a year to making 27,500 a year??

If you need the money and can stand it, then stick it out. If money wasnt an issue blow that popsicle stand and go do what you love.

any more questions?

I think that depends on what you are driven by, emotional fulfilment or money? I personally would go with the job that I loved, working a job that you hate will affect you after a while.
