I have been working for this entertainment company for over 2 years now booking and signing in guests. This is a seasonal/part--time gig. I work like 2 weekends a month. I like this job but it's not a stable company-- people are being fired left and right. Plus, there is a lot of drama going on-- people talking about each other etc. Any how, I just got offered this other job as an Office Manager.. closer to home, better hours, pay, better enviornment but they want me to quit this other job. I am having a hard time with that-- I know it's a lousy company but I want to return there for other events plus I don't want to leave them hanging... I don't know what to do. Please help.

Be direct and let your boss know that you have a better offer. You are willing to help them until they can find a replacement.
I quit a job once and I would go back to the old job after I got off work on the new job. I worked weekends to trained the new person for a month.

I told the new person that they could call me at home but not at my new job. After a month they did not call me any more for advise or help.

The company is firing people left and right. The difference between a firing and a resignation is that the company does the firing, the employees do the resigning.

Your exisiting job is seasonal/part-time, so it is not a position that sets you on the path to a career. A job as an Office Manager could very well do that.

Loyalty is a great attribute, but not if you get sidetracked from a better career path.

Give proper notice and resign.

Good luck.

Okay, I see others are telling you to quit the part time 'gig' But I say make that money as long as there's money to be made! If you can handle two jobs, think of what you can accomplish. And if you do get fired/ let go, ask for a compensation package of some kind. Still, don't sweat the drama, that's every where you go. Look past the small things and look at the big picture-what do you want to achieve in life?! Good luck, Hon. Your destiny is your own.

I would say that you should quit the old one,but give them notice so that you're not leaving them hanging

Give them a 2-week notice and explain to them what you said in your question.
