...to a job for a bit more money, but the company are awful. They only ever give me 1 day off a week, even though I keep insisting I want 2 a week, and now they say I can only take my annual leave if I have accumulated it. Ive never heard anything like this before. Should I leave this job and look elsewhere? I know 100% there are 2 places I could get another job, but what if they are just as bad? My dad is getting on at me saying there's no such thing as a perfect job, I know this, but I just don't want to have liberties taken, or be dictated to as to when I can have my holiday.what should I do?

I think you are quite young, so find another job before you tell them you are off. Leave on good terms becuase you may need them as a reference

Your Dad is right there is no perfect job but some are unbearable before you do anything take a look at yourself and be honest./ Write down the advantages and didadvantages of staying where you are.

if the disavantages outweigh the advantages get out. Your dad may well help you in this or an older friend Aunt , Uncle

Deffinitely look for another job. Do lots of research on companies you apply to and see if you can find out what they're like to work for before you go. Make sure you have a job to walk into before you hand in your notice though, you don't want to be unemployed it sucks! There is such a thing as a perfect job, I've had jobs I absolutely loved but they are hard to find. When you start your new job make sure you have a contract of employment which clearly sets out working hours, holidays etc. then you know exactly where you stand.
Unfortunately you will only be entitled to payed holiday that you have acrued so be prepared to take unpaid leave if you want longer or allow a couple of weeks between changing jobs. You will be entitled to some holiday pay for the 3 months you've worked there but it won't be much.
Good luck

While there is no perfect job, a lot of jobs can be harder on people in the beginning because they don't want to give you crap when you're new and haven't earned it. In some businesses that can cost more money then an employee is worth. It's been three months thats a good time to decide how happy you are. if you're truely miserable go, but when you apply for the next job make sure you ask about how you earn your vacation days and how getting days off works.

These are all questions you should have asked when you took this job. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

When they say Accrued Holiday, they basiccally mean that for the time you work, you earn holiday days. It varies quiet a lot on your contract, but assuming you are on Full Time employment, and you work 37ish hours per week, that should be about 5 days from your 3 months work (1.6 days leave per month worked)

Ignoring that, you are entitled to a life, and I am willing to safely say your contract is fairly clear on the whole hours of work thing.

My advice, stick to your guns and look for a new employer. A happy job is better than higher money, and your dad is not accurate, there is such things as perfect jobs.

I can tell you there is no perfect job. I have been so fortunate to have been introduced to a job that I can do from home. I work my own hours, and I am my own boss. I control how much money I make each month and I get to introduce others to a way of life that most people only dream of.

yes you should leave. A job shouldn't consume all your free time unless you want to make a career out of it. You don't want your job to infringe on the things you enjoy or else you will be unhappy.
