I love history and am thinking about going back and getting my Masters and Doctortal in some study of history what kind of career opportunties are there for history PHD's?

Teaching is the largest employer of PHD's in history, some research organizations based in DC seek out PHD's from time to time.

Teaching or maybe you could write a book about a specific topic, hey with a PHd more people think its gonna be a credible source..

Teaching at the college level, especially.

Writing, you could be an author, write books about history.

You could maybe work for someplace like the History Channel on cable. I think this one would be cool, but I only have a Bachelor's.

Mostly, teaching history. Possibly also museum jobs, or author.
