I have been at my current position, an assistant in a fashion company since the end of the April. Up until april I have been on the roller coaster of unemployment since last spring.

However, I have no fashion experience up to this point and as I go along, as much as I am learning, I am finding it more difficult. I feel that I have tried and just realized that maybe I cannot do this job anymore. I dont want to give up, but I dont know how much more I can take.

I have started to send out resumes and my question is, when asked about what I have been doing, should I say I was temping or should I list this current position on my resume and explain that I feel that it is just not the right job for me?

I am well aware of the fact that if I fudge the truth and hired somewhere else and the truth is found out, I may go back to being unemployed, which I dont want to do.

Thank you.

Well im 17 and i just got called for my first job interview from CVS pharmacy in a couple of days. This is going to be my first job let alone my first interview, so i just want to know what would be some good questions to ask them???? or some good catch phrases that will make them remember me in the picking process. I just want to know what would be the best way to get into the employers head and just give me the advantage over other people who are being interviewed. Please anything will help. Thanks!!

I always wanted to be a nurse, but after work experience at a nursing home, I've learned that I can't cope or tolerate being around sick people all the time. I'm good at biology, english, law and health. Anybody have any suggestions? I've only got one year left till I finish, and I'm starting to stress now.

Ok, so I was wondering if any of you are secret shoppers? You get paid by companies to shop in their stores, and then write up a very detailed report about how it was. Is this a good job to have for a while, while you get your career going? Does it pay good, or do you need to get another job as well?

Thank you :D ♥

I'm looking for fields I might want to work in so I have a general idea. My skills include, aside from being able to read and write well, typing fast, comprehension, patient and a perfectionist. I am also very verbal, like philosophy, logic, reasoning, am good at solving problems and know my way around several MAC and Windows computer programs, including PP, Word, Publisher, Photoshop even Lotus.

I just have a few demands:

1. Well paid: Eventually...
2. Fast-paced: I have too much energy to sit a desk all day.
3. Unpredictable schedule: I don't really mind long hours, I just wouldn't really want to work a job that's 9-5 every day. It would bore me to no end.
4. Mentally challenging: This one shouldn't be too hard I guess.
5. Social: Pretty self explanatory
6. As little math as possible: I'm really not good with numbers. If it requires anything beyond + - x / % I'm not doing it.

So, anybody have some suggestions? I would appreciate them.

-X-

Do companies really go over all those sent in resumes? I've been trying to help a friend look for work using most of the job searching sites. He's a designer and an awesome one at that! So why is it so hard for any follow ups or even responses from these companies? A "Thank you for sending in your resume." would even be nice.

My girlfreind is going through a tough time at work, she works for a College and the type is accredited and is the only one of its kind in the area. She is a coodinator and student assistant and her higher ups are out of town. She works around a couple other employess who are inrolement counclers and they have seperate higher ups. Since these 2 inrolement counclers (IC) came aboard my girlfreind has had nothing but problems. They constantly try to run the place in which she was the first to start working in when it first opened. These 2 (IC) were students there. Yet, they like to put on an act like they are real team players but yet, are the typical snakes in the grass. SHe trys to do everythign by the book, logs all teh goings on, keeps track of things and makes sure there are no deviations in protocol. SHe trys to keep her nose out of their business and there have been times where they have made some decisions that violated a privacy issue and she had informed the brass. Anyways....

My 17 yr. old son has done some misc. work for people over the summer. Mowing lawns for neighbors. He also helped build an addition, and did some roofing work. He was paid cash for these jobs. He was paid by the job for mowing the lawn. But the other work he was paid $10 hr. cash. Can he put this stuff down on a job application? How should he word it? Does he say self employed?

The job applications he will be filling out will be for his first job. He filled out a few applications last winter, but didn't have anything to write down for employment. He's hoping that the little bit of work he did over the summer will be helpful. He's just looking to get a job at like Walmart or something.

What are some things that I could do to occupy my time?

2007-08-08 06:59:32 · 7 answers · asked by Megan B 2

I work as a cashier at Target.
I started two and a half weeks ago, and today I realized how much I dislike it.
It's boring and I'm wasting my time.
School starts in two weeks and I want to quit before then.
I work tonight and am supposed to work for the next five days but I'd much rather not.

I guess my question is, would it be horrible if I called today and quit via telephone? If not, what could I say?
Would they force me to work two more weeks?
Or should I just say I'm going on vacation this Friday for two weeks, because there's no way they'd give me that much time off, so I could quit with an excuse. Though I suppose that would be immature, but who cares? I'm not planning on making this my career..

I've just never had a job before and need advice on how to go back to the lovely days of unemployment I miss so much.
Thanks.

No one is perfect... Is there anything you did on your first job interview that you regret?

Did you end up getting the job? If so, congratulations! And if not, how did you learn from your mistakes?

Well now i've found it and the job is being offered to me, but the job i'm at now where I am miserable, the other person that worked here was just fired yesterday out of the blue, and now it's just me, but I was planning to leave way before she got fired. I want the new job sooooo bad, but feel guilty every time I think of leaving cuz' of what just happened. Mind you that I have been treated kinda unfair since I first started here. My boss even came to me and said don't leave, but she doesn't know I want to leave. What should I do?
