No one is perfect... Is there anything you did on your first job interview that you regret?

Did you end up getting the job? If so, congratulations! And if not, how did you learn from your mistakes?

I wasn't prepared. I didn't have copies of my resume and I didn't have my references available. Luckily, I had the job either way because the boss was a friend of my sister's who was getting me the job. The interview was just out of formality. I later heard that the guy who interviewed me asked my boss after my interview if she was sure she wanted to hire me.

It was my first and only job.. Still there after 4 years. Yay for proving myself valuable.

Not my first interview, but early on...I was offered a soda & accepted a diet one. It was a very hot day. After the interview, he took me on a tour of the facility including other buildings in the heat of the outside.

Well, all the walking and the heat and the carbonation did a number on my tummy & after we sat back down together, he asked me a question. I opened my mouth to answer & out came a burp that I had NO idea was coming!

I was horribly embarrassed & apologized profusely. Believe it or not, they offered me the job. It wasn't a good fit (burp or not) for me, so I declined but referred a friend who stayed on there for years!

I learned NEVER to drink soda, especially diet soda on a hot day during an interview...and even decline soda altogether now when interviewing.

The interview was pretty basic (McDonalds), but I guess I would say that I wasn't prepared. I didn't know what questions to ask (I didn't ask any). Of course they hire anybody though so I still got the job.

My suggestion to any body looking for your first job...take it serious (but don't be nervous). The more you learn in the beginning more ready you will be when you're looking for your "dream job".

Tried to BS my knowlege of something and got caught in the middle of it. Fortunately, the job was as a salesperson, and BS was necessary for the job. Got called back an hour later. ^^

It was at a Mexican restaurant.

He asked what I thought of their food, I was honest.
