Now I know it isn't exactly right to come to this site for an answer, but I'm a little confused in what I should major in. I love art. I know how to use Photoshop and I'm good at animating, I love drawing, etc. I also have a lot of math credits. I'm taking more than one math class so I may have a lot of math credit so colleges can be interested. I'm good at math, english, and also drawing. I would like to have a job as an artist but artists usually don't make a lot of money. I've had past experience in selling my art, though. I've gone to an anime convention twice to sell my artwork and I did pretty good, about 500$ each time. What would you recommend as a major?

Ok, here's the story. I worked at a mortgage company for about a year and a half, they just recently went out of business. Luckily I was able to line another job up and have been working here for about 30 days. It's in the financial services industry also and they are now going to layoff about 30 people, the new people are part of that group. If I get layed off, can I still get unemployment until I find another job? I have kids also, so providing for them is my main concern. Thanks for the info and advice.

I just want to know what employers think is enough time to gain experience and skills that another employer will consider you a valuable asset. Here is the thing, I'm working at my 1st job out of college and I don't see myself here forever. How long should I stay here to establish myself as an "experienced" worker?

I just feel so hopeless and ashamed about my life. I am graduating with my B.A. in Chemistry in December. I wanted to graduate this summer but due to an error on a professor's part (delayed grades), I have to wait another semester. This mean I have no classes from Sept. to Dec. I don't know what to do for these 4 months! My parents are wondering what's up with me too.

My old dreams:
Medical school-no hope with a 2.6 GPA
Teaching-classes started this week and I have no diploma.
Pharmacy school (used to be my last choice)-cutoff is 3.0
Master's degree--can't find any program with less than 3.0 requirement.
Travel--Would love to, but first would like to finalize grad school or career plans before I leave the country.

What can I do in these four months that will show employers that I am a lot more competent than I appear on paper?

The last couple of jobs I have had have unrealistic guidelines!! Why are jobs allowed to be so ignorant..uncaring....bullying..heartless..The job I am at now treats people like mud..
We never know one week to next when we are working. they are consistantly hiring people.. at least half the people that get hired, quit after one month 75% by 3-6, and 98% within the first 18 months.. There is no communication at my work whatsoever...they watch every single second..we are timed exactly to the second on ten minute breaks, and we are timed exactly 30 minutes for lunch. It is ridiculous. They make employees who are sick come in, there are no sick days. the insurance sucks.. but I have to be there a year before I can look elsewhere. ...not only that, they compliment you one minute and then treat you like a joke the next minute. I really think employers nowadays are inhumane..

I was recently hired as a part time employee at a local agency, and I have a bit of responsibilities that are solely mine. The pay is really not enough, and the job duties are below my competency (I have a BA); however, I accepted the offer with the knowledge that I probably will not stay for over four months.

I am currently going through testings and various interviews for full time and much better paying positions elsewhere. I know that the hiring at these places will take two+ months. Ideally I would be hired by the end of the 2007 year, but I really cannot say.

The people at the local agency are genuinely very nice, and I feel bad about the situation that I will probably have to put them in. There is only one woman training me, and she is just great. However, I have not told anybody about my situation since the full time position is still not for sure.

When should I let my employer know about my desires to leave?? Is it weird to be feeling guilty?

I recently was brought on as the manager of a small department. I have a pretty hardworking employee who had a task assigned to her today. I got the feeling that she cut some corners on this task, so I asked her how she did it. She basically said that she did it the right way. I went back and checked later in the day after she left, and it was clear that she lied to me about one particular which probably won't cause any problems, but certainly could.

So this leads me to my main question. I have only been there 1 month. I have used this month to learn the business, and have been pretty laid back with them. I didn't want to address something with someone and then find out I'm wrong. I've really only gotten stern with people on serious issues. Now that I know she lied to me about this, how should I address it? There is a very small chance that she did it on accident, but I highly doubt it.

I need to quit this job...the main reason is I severely don't like it, it's completely not right for me...the other reason is my school schedule has changed, and I possibly can get a job somewhere else (I don't care if I miss a paycheck). Anyway...I want out ASAP. But would the boss think I'm crazy? What do you think he would think? (I'm still in probation).
