My friend is a great problem solver. He is good at going into businesses and raising revenue and just generally figuring out how to make things smoother. He has a bs in sociology and some experience in doing this sort of thing with some newspapers. What job should he apply for and how can he get a job that utilizes these skills???

Scottrade only allows one put or one call per stock symbol. So if I want to play the Nasdaq in a straddle, I need to play two different stock symbols representing the Nasdaq. I was thinking NDAQ and QQQQ, with a put on one and a call on the other, say for February? What are your thoughts on this?

This is a very nice community. I have lived here since 1990. Is there anything I can use to help because the company they are using is not helping at all. If you don't pay your rent on time, they will give you a three day eviction notice. I have been late only one time and that's when I was laid off and I received a three day eviction notice. Keep in mind I have been here since 1990 and it is not fair to live in roaches.

This is my first time filing for FAFSA. I just turned 25 and I'm trying to get federal funding to assist me with tuition fees. I was hired as an independent contractor in 2006 for a couple of freelance jobs. My employer did not deduct any taxes from my paycheck. I made about 6,000 and didn't file for 2006. I'm not sure if it's legal or safe to put down estimate of what I made in '06 in my FAFSA form and correct my SAR later. So, my question is, is there any way I can claim dependent and file with my parent's tax return instead?

The thought just popped up in my head that I would very much like to work as someone who goes into companies and helps throw stuff out that isn't necessary.
Not on a management level, but on an operational and production level.
I would re-design processes and products simply by finding ways of doing without aspects of them, saving money and trouble.

If there is such a profession, what is it called?

If I buy a call and a put on a particular stock, what is the most amount of money I can lose? Why would Scottrade not want me to do this? If there is volatility, I could cash in on the call and the put in the same week as I see it!

When shopping for my mortgage three years ago i had two options, the classic 30 year fixed or the gimmick hot and new adjustable rate mortgage. I went with the traditional fixed. Now all you read about is how all these people got a ton more house than they need and now they are mortgage broke or are losing their homes because the rate is adjusting up. Am i the only one out there who saw this coming and dont feel sorry for the fry cook in the 250,000 mansion who now cannot afford it?

I am 18 i havent lived with my parents since i was 15. I live with my boyfriend and his mother. We are both 18 now and we are planning to move out. It is very very scary but also exciting I work a part time job I make about 800 a month and my boyfriend makes about 400 a month. His mother is pushing that we move out by january 31 i feel its unrealistic to move out and get a place that quick. But it is her house and until I am out i must abide by her rules. What things might i need to do to get started. I am finishing my last year in highschool and so is my boyfriend. We have transportation of our own. Also rent around where i live is about 500 and some bills paid. What things have you personally done that has helped in the long run with finacial problems. Also do you think we make enough to provide for both of us?
Thank you

I know this is a newb question, but I don't know much about retirement.
I am looking into opening up a Roth IRA. Will I have to wait until I'm age 59 1/2 to take my money out? This doesn't really sound like a good deal to me. Is there any other reason why opening up an IRA would be beneficial to me?
Also, what kind of funds should I have in my Roth IRA? Stocks, bonds, index funds, etc?

a sales agent from nPower came to my house and took all details from my mother(saying that its juz a survey they are doing)
Today I got a letter from EDF mentionin that I have cancelled my contract with them and got on to another company and that another company is nPower.
I foned them(nPower) up and they said that my mother signed but she STRICTLY denies that. They even tried to figure out the name on the signature and the way they told me its written, its clearly not my mother's signature.
So its a FORGERY.
They told me an investigation will be on and they'll contact me after Xmas days and that switching back to EDF will take 8weeks!
This is clearly a MISUSE OF PERSONAL DATA AND FORGERY.

I need to know what to do because I cant wait for 8 more weeks, as it is, EDF will have to give a new contract and its a lot more hassle, all my benefits with EDF(Nectar and all) are wiped out?

HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE'S PERSONAL INFORMATION ARE BEING MISUSED LIKE ZAT BY nPOWER?

Please help!

Thanks

We have 1 income, 1 child, 1 mortgage, itemize our taxes, and are riding on a $3000 loss on stocks (that are not capital gains).

Would you take a loss or let the stocks ride in the next year? Does it make THAT MUCH of a difference?

I have not lived at home for 3 years and I am workig during the college school yr. and taking out student loans to pay for my education. My parents keep claiming me on their taxes as a dependant and say they'll do so until I'm 24. I have aked the FA office and they said your parents cannot claim you to start with. They make well over 125K per year and are sticking me with 100% of the college expenses, when they suggested I go here in the first place and even said they'd pay for my education but now they decided to build a house and stick me with the debt. I figure it being around 50K when I graduate, do you feel this is the right thing for them to do? I feel at the very least they should at least pay towards the principal balance of the laons or at least give me whatever it is they are writing off a deduction. They claim b/c I'm on their insurace they'll contiune to do it even though the university has 100% medical coverage for full time students. This is a State U.
