a sales agent from nPower came to my house and took all details from my mother(saying that its juz a survey they are doing)
Today I got a letter from EDF mentionin that I have cancelled my contract with them and got on to another company and that another company is nPower.
I foned them(nPower) up and they said that my mother signed but she STRICTLY denies that. They even tried to figure out the name on the signature and the way they told me its written, its clearly not my mother's signature.
So its a FORGERY.
They told me an investigation will be on and they'll contact me after Xmas days and that switching back to EDF will take 8weeks!
This is clearly a MISUSE OF PERSONAL DATA AND FORGERY.

I need to know what to do because I cant wait for 8 more weeks, as it is, EDF will have to give a new contract and its a lot more hassle, all my benefits with EDF(Nectar and all) are wiped out?

HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE'S PERSONAL INFORMATION ARE BEING MISUSED LIKE ZAT BY nPOWER?

Please help!

Thanks

I had a problem with a utitlty company in Texas and the back of my bill said that if there were any problems I could report them to the Public Utility Commission of Texas. I did and got results. I'm sure each state has such a commission. You can also call the attorney general of your state. In Texas his office is quite available and helpful online or on the telephone. Try the internet to find out just who you report them to in your area. With telephone companies, it's call slamming and means an illegal switch. You better tell your mother to never give out your personal information to anyone she doesn't personally know. The utility commission will ask you to explain how you want the situation resolved and I would check and be sure your original utility company isn't going to charge you for terminating your service before the end of your contract. I would also ask for any costs lost by having to get another contract at a higher rate. Spend the time to report them and tell them you intend to do it. Your first company may supply you with the information needed to report them too. If a salesperson signed your or your mother's name, that is fraud and illegal. Get a copy. You can call the police and have a report made. They will do nothing but you will have paper back up for your charges. You can also call a local TV station that has a roving reporter and see if they will come to your aid. They may decide to interview you so that others will be warned there are unscrupulous companies in the area. And report them to your local Better Business Bureau. They think they can get away with it, get mad and get even. It's amazing but it works and you can put a stop to them. . .at least in your area. Good luck and go get them. . .and the Attorney General's office kicks butt. . .

Did your mom get the agents id number or name when they called? This should be on the form your mom signed. I would advice you to give energy watch a phone call and explain the situation and they will take your case and investigate it. I would also contact edf and ask them to switch you back over to them and explain that you do not want to lose your points and any other benefits advice them that you have been in contact with energy watch and they are investigating this for you. Good luck hopes this helps as I used to work for a utilities company.

Oh boy N-power phoned me to persuade me to change to them and i said i would think about it after they had sent me all relevant info in writing.I never got anything through the post and i forgot about it.A couple of weeks later I found out they had taken me behind my back as a new customer and had also cancelled my previous supplier.I was livid.I phoned up my old supplier and told them to take me back and to cancel my supply with N-power.I had to wait a few weeks but I am now back with my original supplier. Please take this as far as you can and take the lying conning ba*****s to task.Make an official complaint to Ofgem and energy watch and see it through to the end.I would be insisting they pay compensation for the despicable way they have treated your mom.Apparently this is common practise by them and they ARE trained in fraudulent tactics.I never went that far but i would have had they forged my signature.
Get the liars where it hurts.Go to the papers and get justice for your mom.
Let us know how you get on and good luck.
