I just moved here and was super excited about my first home. I got the neighbor next door they are SUPER NOSY all the time, try to control me and my life just because I am NEW here. They even told me like that. When I plant a tree for instance they would come out inspect the area and so on. They dumped trash on my drive way couple of times, reported me to a county when I had some home improvement going and grass was bit tall on my back yard. What's up with these people??? and they are now trying to group up with the people across street I can hear them gossiping pointing finger at me. I have done NOTHING wrong, I just want to live here peace and quiet. I am from Japan, the neighborhood is old and red necky a bit. These people has lived here for 20 some years, they think they owns the area or something. I a so stressed out. What can I do ?

Please post your stories here...help me be convinced, especially since as a starving artist I can currently barely afford to feed myself (yes I AM starting a new job next week but until then so far my resources are all dried up).
And if it DID work for you, if you help me win some money so I can fill my empty fridge and pay my 7-day late rent, I'll give you 50%! :)

By the way I am selling stuff and furniture:)

Ok, I've been getting some mixed answers please help. Say for example that I run a business out of my office in my home and I need to purchase a computer. When I write this computer off as equipment needed to run my business will** The money be refunded back with taxes? or **Will the $500 computer be non taxed if it exceeds my business income for that year. Basically, with the computer and no income to the business it becomes a loss, so will it do me no good to write it off.

I rent a condo but the owner hired a management company to handle everything so I deal with them directly and not her. Per the lease, I must give her 60 days notice if I am not going to renew my lease and she must give me the same. By July 1st (the date on which we would have to give notice to each other), I had not given notice vacate and neither had she, altho I left several messages to try to see what the situation was (management comp. is kind of incompetent). Today, I got a letter dated June 29th but postmarked and signed by her on July 5th, that said that she is going to renew but raising my rent by $75/month. Here's what I am thinking- the lease says that if neither of us gives the other notice then the lease will automatically renew "at the same terms and conditions as set forth in this lease." Since I didn't get the letter saying she was going to raise the rent until July 5th, I have a right to have the rent renewed at the original rate. Yes?

Do you think that we should end mediatory taxation for social programs? Think carefully before you answer. What would happen if these taxes were no longer collected? Now, on the other side; if you pay the same amount as some other countries, how would that benefit YOU?

My tenant recently moved out of my rental property. She (with help from her children) trashed the joint.

MN gives 21 days for landlords to inform tenants I sent her a letter notifying her of this fact. I wasn't sure of her address (she provided me one, but later said it wasn't correct), so I e-mailed her as well and cc'd her case worker just to make sure she had her letter.

A few days later, she sent me a handwritten note, notifying me that she had not received the letter, and that she had no choice but to take me to court. I promptly sent another letter via registered mail, which she has not verified having received.

Today I received a summons to appear in conciliary court, since she is suing me for double the amount of the deposit. Her game seems to be to ignore all communications on my end, so that she can pretend she never received them. Anyone had a similar experience? How best to proceed?
