Based on a 40 hour work week I am making about $13 per hour. But I have already put in over 45 hours this week and they want me to work today too. I am exhausted and feel like I'm being taken advantage of. This company never mentioned to me that I would be working more than 40 hours a week for this cheap salary. Can they do this?

last year, my school made me do a proof of income type worksheet since im a single mom under 24 to prove i am an independant student. i only worked cleaning houses here and there for cash and used my income tax return and money i had saved to live off of. still they insisted on a paystub so a person who owns a small company i know that i cleaned house for made me one, but it was never filed with the state or anything because he only payed me cash. now the school wants a W2 for this year and income tax return but of course i dont have one and dont know what to do now. i probably shuoldnt have given them that paystub since it wasnt actually payed out from his business account. should i try to explain to them or just not file for financial aid this year to avoid any further problems??

I am wanting to talk to HR about my raise that i just got, but not sure what is appropriate. We get raises once a year. For the past two years mine have been 5%. This year it was 4%, it was a raise of $1700 and i wont be up for another one until next year. No, i wasnt looking for a 10k raise or anything, but i'm suprised by this. I'm also suprised because yesterday i was informed by my boss that i'll now be reporting to someone else. He will still be overseeing the whole group, but this is a new person in the group who i will report directly to. I'll still be doing the same thing i'm doing now, plus i'll be doing more work with this other person. So all this is going to go on and they think a 4% raise is ok? Ive always had good reviews...my boss tells me i'm doing a good job...what the heck?

Is it legal for a company to make you stay 9 hrs, but only pay you for 8 hrs because they dont pay for my 1 hour lunch? This is the only company i worked for and heard of that does this. Everywhere else you go, you get paid 9-5, or what ever the schedule is, for 8 hrs. And most companies will pay for your lunch weather its 30 min, or an hour. 1 hr a day is about 260 lost hours in a year. I work In NJ. Any help is appreciated.

I wanted to buy items from legitimate wholesalers and drop shippers, however, I needed a sales tax ID to be able to buy from them. I thought that in order to get my sales tax ID, I would need an EIN (employer identification number). So I got the EIN from the IRS. Then I got my IBT (Illinois Business Tax number or sales tax ID). Then I contacted someone from the Illinois Revenue and I found out that I do not need an EIN. You see, all I want to do is buy items from wholesalers or drop shippers and then sell those items on eBay. That is it. I will never have employees so I will never need an EIN. I am no corporation or anything; just a regular guy. I fear that having an EIN may make my tax paying unnecessarily more difficult so this brings me to my question: How do I erase my EIN? I know I should call the IRS...but my phone just broke. Therefore, I am basically asking how I can get rid of this thing online. Thank you all.

I looked here: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98350,00.html

but no luck

I am in the process, and building has already started, on buying my new home. I looked online today and the base prices have dropped by $60,000. Since I haven't closed yet can I get them to drop the price or am I stuck with it?

I am 25 years old and I just opened a Fidelity Roth IRA. I am contributing $200/month. Does anyone have any suggestions on what funds/bonds I should invest in? And can I buy them now with only $200 or do I have to wait until I build up more money?

I have heard a few different theories regarding building your credit using a credit card...I have paid off my credit card IN FULL every time the bill is due. Some people tell me that if I just pay more then the minimum payment, but less than the full amount, your credit looks better and builds faster. Other people tell me to pay in full no matter what and if you don't pay in full every month your credit looks really bad.

Any creditors out there that can offer me some advice?

I just turned 18 and was wondering if I would get approved for a credit card? Or is it just a waste of time to try? Don't worry, I'm not going to screw myself, I DO have the means to pay it off.

Applying for assistant manager. At most job interviews I'd dress really professionally, but at others I think twice about maybe dressing more trendy or in the store's style.

I'm trying to get them to correct their mistake, but navigating their bureaucracy is impossible. Misreporting W2 and 1099 must violate some law. I'm thinking of hiring a lawyer, but would like to avoid the cost. Any good suggestions on how to get Fidelity to clean up their records and get the IRS off my back?
