I've been renting a house for 5 years now, and in doing so have aquired a lot of crap. Roommates have come and gone, leaving a bookcase here and bedframe there. Now that i'm ready to move out, i'm wondering what will happen if i just leave all this stuff there, cause it'll take a u-haul to get it all out. Would the landlord have any recourse?

Looking at posting of shrieff sales at the county court house is one-way. But you are really pushing it to about 30 days & a lot of times people have already move out and hard to locate. Are there other ways of locating individuals?

Over time i have accumulated large credit and personal loan debt that i am really hurting from today. In the past 6-12 months i have been making minimal payments on all the credit cards on time. The interest rates are high on the credit cards between 19-30%. I contacted serveral debt conslidation firms that told me that i would need to be late on my payments before they can help me.
Can anyone recommed a non profit debt managment firm?

I am only going tho make $200 at one job before taxes, so i think i can claim exempt there. However at my other job i will be making well over 10,000. and will be claiming 1, or 2(which is better?) So can i do that at the smaller job?

I have a friend of mine going through an dilly of a perdicament. She has been living in a rent stabilized unit for 10 years on the Upper West Side. Recently she received an eviction notice saying that she owed back rent from 1999.

They asked her to furnish proof of payment but could not (who keeps receipts that long?) So does anyone know anything about tenent law and if this is even legal? The total of monies they claim she owes is $1000 - a pitance I know, but still - can they evel legally evict her for that?

Our house has just been sitting on the market and its getting too frustrating for us (we don't even live there anymore!). The house is almost brand new (as we only lived there for 4 months). I feel that our realtor isn't doing much (no more open houses, never calls us a.k.a. no ones looking at the house, etc.). My husband and I have never sold a house before and we just feel like we are losing this neverending battle (we don't want to get stuck paying 2 mortgages, 2 electricity bills, etc). What can we do to possibly speed things up?

I am currently slightly behind on my car loan payments (not even 1 month just a few weeks late on one payment).
The company i owe the money to keep calling me at work i have told them that i am not able to take personal calls but they just keep ringing.
i have no idea where they have got the number from either, i did not give them it.
Is there anything in the law that says they must stop calling my work number once i have advised them it is not appropriate.

PS - I have every intention of speaking to them but i work from 8:30 to 18:00 monday to thursday, they open 9 - 5. My intention is to call them on friday.

I recently received a collections letter from an old lease I broke almost 5 years ago - I assume it's from a company who bought the debt from another. My friend & I had rented a place together from a private landlord (not a company), and our names were both on the lease. The collections letter in my possession lists my name and someone else's who I've never heard of before. I can only assume it was the roommate my friend brought in after I left, or a total stranger. Either way, this is not the person who I originally signed the lease with. Another concern is that my SSN is listed in plain text along with the unknown person's number. I can only assume the other person has received the same letter and has enough information at her disposal to commit identity theft. (name, SSN, and current address).

The lease amount was on my credit for the longest time, and has now disappeared. Will the new recovery efforts place it back on my report?

Any suggestions on what I should do?Thanks

What is it called when your company allows you to set aside tax free money from your check to put towards medical, dental, or vision expenses. My company doesn't have vision or dental so I want to convince them to do this. What should I say to them?

Prior to January, I had just house hold bills, and a couple credit cards I am paying off. Paid one off completely, with 2 to go. (lost job a while back and it snowballed into owing around 7 grand total, paid off one, 2 grand, 2 left).....have usual property tax, light bill, water, etc. (and my internet, which is my ONLY recreation/entertainment, no going out to movie/dinners etc.)
But have about 10K in new medical bills, due to a MISdiognosis on top of it.....The house and vehicles are paid for, vehicles aren't worth squat, but the property is enough to cover it all, but....
A. would a lender even consider refinancing, not behind on anything......
B. property is paid for, and so badly don't want a mortgage again...
C. if I don't, I am sure they can hound me till I have a nervous breakdown or smack a lein, or attempt to take my property for the medical bills.
D. home equity, if something happens and you can't pay, poof, they GET your property.
any suggestions?????

I am about 30,000 in debt, mostly from credit cards.

I was married already when the debt occured but they are all in my name, not my husbands. This weighs on me alot. I stopped paying on them about 3 years ago. It got very over whelming.

We are wanting to buy a house in about 2 years. I dont know what to do file bankruptcy, offer a settlement, or continue not paying. Alot of them are "charged off as bad debt" or in collection accounts"

What is in the best interest for me and my family?

Take home pay is about 30,000 a yr. We still have to save for a down payment on a house. We have rent, insurance, gas, electric, internet, tv, phone and all the obvious, normal bills to pay too.

I will answer all questions. And I Thank You for any advise any one has to offer.

I am claiming 0 right now and they take a lot of money out. I have never owed when claiming this and get back about $1,000 when I do my taxes. Is it smart to switch to 1 so they take less out? Of course I want the best way to get me more money.
