I was made bankrupt for a silly amount in February 2005 and discharged in February 2006.

I now need to get hold of £6000 (unsecured) for home improvements (repair central heating, repair roof and rotting window frames ETC)
Is there a lender out there who will help me?

I have always heard that owning a house is better than renting, but I don't really know what to believe anymore.
My fiancé and I just signed a new lease. We are renting a brand new 3 bedroom house with a pool for less than 800 a month (from a friend of the family) I think that this is an amazing deal. I really wanted to look into buying a starter home (around 150-175K) but with the added Taxes and Insurance (we live in Florida, near the water) it would have been at least another 600-700 a month added to the principal. My friends who recently became first time homeowners are struggling each month, and I can't imagine myself wanting to be in that kind of situation, sacrificing other things, just to call myself a homeowner. Am I wrong in my thinking?

so i submitted my taxes using TurboTax Delux, and filed electronically. I agreed to have my refund direct deposited into my checking account. After I clicked the "ok submit" button, I realized that the bank changed the routing number for that account, and the routing number that the IRS has for my refund is incorrect. How can i get a hold of a real person to talk to about this? All of the Phone numbers that i have found from the IRS site are all recorded or automated messages.
when i talked to Turbo Tax about it, they told me to call the IRS to get it fixed.
Please help!

I have a girl friend who wants me to do her taxes online, but wasn't sure if she would get all of her refund. Don't know why she feels like she won't get it all but, I was wondering if there was a number to call about something like that.

I was laid off at my job on New Years Eve in 05'. I was out of a job until late April. While unemployed I was receiving unemployment checks. Well in early March I got a job for about 2-3 days and then quit going in because the woman was impossible to work with. Anyways, after that I kept on receiving my unemployment checks until I got my current job. Just the other day I got a W2 thing for a check they paid me for my few days there. I am wanting to know because I realize your not supposed to make unemp. claims with a job, and didnt want to turn in this thing to my tax lady and get in some trouble for doing that. So what happens if I dont give her the paper they sent me? Advice?

I'm normally a jeans and tshirt guy. So I went to work one time and was told that we now have a dress code. That forced me to buy more clothes I normally don't wear for work. I'm a tech guy and usually not seen by many so dressing up was never really an issue before but I guess now it is. Can I claim those expenses I used on those clothes as a deduction on my tax return?

I had sold the shares in 1994 and received the money from my broker in due course after handing over the share certificates along with the relevant Transfer Certificate(TC). However, over 12 years till date I continued to receive Dividends for the same. In 1998 I even recd. Bonus Shares (1:1) and susequently dividends for the same. Now recently I got a legal letter from a supposed buyer who got it transferred, finally after a due process of revaliditation--the reason given for the delay as misplacement. It was not a Bad delivery as he could get it trasferred with the original TC even now. Now he is demanding, thro' this letter all his rights with regards to Dividends, Bonus etc. What is his legal status? What should I do? Veterans have advised me to ignore this letter as the fault lies with the Buyer and also there might have been any No.of Buyers down the line, he being the last and knowing this he might have got tempted to make the claim. What if some other buyer crops up later on?

I live on a farm in Britain which my dad/uncle run it and my grandparents did before them we farm sheep and chickens it is a small family business.
We have received a bill for thousands of pounds from the government in order to get a license to run a business we’ve been running for about 40 years without a license but no they didn't stop there they also gave us with enough paperwork to cause my parents to stop working for 3 days ,this paperwork required detailed maps of the farm but not one map loads of maps and we were to have seven copies of each map. It also required a decommissioning plan and geology map (why?) it also didn’t help the government informed us about all this about a month late. The bill was required by the EU to stop farms polluting they never took into account the fact our farm also has 11 wind turbines producing green energy and this unlike Britain, France are absorbing the fee and other countries are reducing it.
When I go into the supermarket I see more and more foreign foods its almost as if the government wants us (farms) to fail.
