I know that freelancing means working at your own pace and doing what you do, but who or how do you find the people or ways to do it? How do you get into freelancing if you have been looking for work for a long time, but you don't have any significant experience that you can freelance with. For instance, i have been sorta thinking about graphic design and freelancing or using some other retail job to freelance with, but i don't know where to go. I logged on to a site called Sologig.com and they are supposed to be good at finding jobs for people. My only trouble is i haven't really had the experience (or don't know where to go) to start freelancing. When they ask for Title Information, does it mean what is the title i'm looking for or the title i already have? Does freelancing pay? Is it non-guaranteed pay? How do you become a freelance graphic designer and does it pay?

My partner and I are doing some desktop publishing and we wanted to know how much we should charge for: brochures, ebook cover creation, editing ebooks and converting to .pdf files, etc. Would prefer a per job and not an hourly rate. Any ideas? Serious answers only, please. Thanks!

Hello Yahooers,
I'm looking for a house flipping course in NYC or the surrounding areas. Or a good book about house flipping - the do's and dont's, expert help, etc. If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!

We just bought a new house but haven't listed our house yet. The realitor that sold the house was going to come over tonight so we could but our current home on the market but we just found out that my cousin wants to buy our house and we can lower the price if we don't use a realtor. If we haven't signed any papers to put our house up are we still obligated to use the realtor

I just started a small business in Florida. The legal name of the business has ", Inc." on the end (XYZ, Inc. for example). I'd like to do business without the ", Inc." (XYZ).

Am I required to file for a fictitious name just to do business without the ", Inc."?

I work in a grocery store, i am the manager, my daughter also works for me, she is a cashier, now i've noticed this a few times. When someone usually pays with cash and she punches in lets say $20 and then the customer decided to give her the exact amount of cents. she is lost in what to give them back.

I know she feels embarrsed about this, and i guess i never noticed it before. i want to help her. is there some kind of games or something i could do to help her solve this issue.

Should it list the county you LIVE in, or the county you WORK in?

We live in one county, but work in another. My W-2's list the county we live in, but his list the one he works in.

Does one of them need to be fixed, and if so, which one?

I had a repossession back in 1999 on a car that I defaulted on. I never heard a thing from the bank, a collection agency or any other soul. Now this debt was charged off and fell off my credit report last year.

Suddenly- about a month back- a collection agency is sending me a letter asking for what is more than what I remember my original loan being for- plus almost 150% in interest that they, themselves, have accrued.

They are threatening garnishment, legal action, and so forth.

The questions are this... Is the interest legal?
After a charge off and the debt has been wiped from my credit can they still collect?
What actions can they take against me, if any?

I am terrified of them either garnishing my wages and taking everything, or just harrassing my employer- what can I do?

I went back into an office job after 5 years of working as a bartender/Rest. Manager. After 6 months in the office I still can't seem to adjust to sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day. I did this to start building my retirement plan but honestly I am just not happy. What should I do?

I bought a high-powered laptop in late 2005, originally for a business venture. That business venture failed, so the laptop (for a period of maybe 2 months into the beginning of 2006) became a personal laptop. For the remainder of the year, however, I used my laptop as my primary business tool (I'm a software/web developer) for non-independent (W-2) work. In other words, I used my laptop on-site with the clients for which I worked for approximately 10 of the 12 months of 2006. Can I claim the cost (or a portion of the cost) as some kind of deduction?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Tim

...and all of the smart people, why do we still have governments, such as cities, that cry and complain about low funds and not enough money and raising taxes?

20 years ago, I thought that our future would gain a lot from all of this wisdom and such. We are deeper in the hole.

I think maybe they see the surface (the politicians) and don't know how to save money. Spend it all now and worry about tomorrow... ...well, tomorrow. My 9 year-old kid knows better.

An old city like mine has old plumbing and bridges. Heh, they all "go" at the same time, yet nobody sees this. I do.

My city has one of the highest wage taxes in the USA, they add an extra annual "occupation TAX". There is an entertainment tax. There are "Household burglar alarm" fees - another tax to protect your home. Soon they may want a Television tax per TV (I'm being sarcastic on this one).

All of my utility bills have extra fees and taxes.

Has anyone been in this situation? We feel that because my husband would have remained an employee until he met the requirements (one year of employment after each course paid for..he only had 4mths. left of the one year for his final courses) that we should not have to pay back the money. It was his companies choice to leave (the company was in MA and is moving to FL) not ours. We have offered to negotiate, but they are not budging. It is a substantial amount. He has been an employee in good standing and has worked above and beyond for this company. Does anyone have any suggestions?
