Should it list the county you LIVE in, or the county you WORK in?

We live in one county, but work in another. My W-2's list the county we live in, but his list the one he works in.

Does one of them need to be fixed, and if so, which one?

Okay, to clarify, in the blank where it says "locality name" (Box 20 on all three of our W-2's) is where the county is listed. In the local box on mine it lists Frankli (abbreniation of the county we live in), and on his it says DearN (abbreviation of the county he works in).

Also, we live in Indiana.

That line is saying that taxes were taken out for that particular locality, and remitted to them. You might have to file returns both places, depending on where you live. The income probably won't get taxed both places, but you'll very possibly have to file both local returns - the money paid to one would usually be subtracted from what you owe to the other.

You need to find out who you have to pay taxes to, and get the local withholding in line with that.

The county listing on a W-2 tells me that you live somewhere that may have a local income tax. The listing on the W-2 doesn't matter as much as the tax return itself so don't worry about getting one changed. I am limited on more advice than this without know where you live.

W-2 should have the place of the employment on it. If someone was considered a consultant or such, then your residence can be listed as the place of employment.
