I'll call my boss Andrew, for anonymity.

I do a lot of temporary work and sometimes go back to the same placement (as I get asked to go back). My boss' wife came into the office one day (never met her before) and I greeted her and shook her hand. The first 2 things she said were, "You know that Andrew is very pleased with his permanent secretary". And so I just shook it off and thought nothing of it, as I couldn't really care less, as I love temping. The next thing she said was, "Don't you ever get asked to leave, if you do something wrong?" I nearly fell off my seat, as it came as such a surprise. I went all red and just said, "No".

Andrew's permanent secretary does ask me back, when she takes leave, so why did his wife say these things to me?

Someone orders a magazine online. They say to wait 10 weeks it never show’s, even 3 months after it was due. Magazine Subscription Company says they are working on kinks, and will not issue a refund. Can you dispute it on the credit card it’s been charged to, even though it’s been paid off?

Hi, I'm a therapist of 2 years, and I bought a treatment couch last year. Normally I just buy products to use on clients, they pay me for the treatment and I bank the cheques, so accounting is very easy. My question is - how do I...include this couch in my accounts. Tried getting help before now, but none forthcoming. Have heard that this couch is, perhaps, 'capital'? and that I should be only including a % of it per year for 3 years...? Does that make sense to anyone - because I'm lost and have been putting off doing my self assessment because of this. Daft I know - I dont have enough money to ask an accountant at their office, I'm afraid. Any accurate information would be gratefully received - in plain English too (I'm not good with technical-speak).
thank you in advance.

I am in my late 40's, and not interested in further legal work. My resume is excellent scholastically and in my career, where I spent 15 years as a senior research attorney for the highest court of my state (one of the best regarded state Courts). I enjoy the analytical process of research -- both online and off -- and equally enjoy writing clearly and simply for easy understanding. I would like to use these skills to answer people's questions in a way that benefits them and society. My greatest pleasure comes when I know I am helping others, directly and one-on-one. I am very charity-minded, but I would like to have a modest income, not riches. How can I combine my idealism and skills for a second career I would enjoy?

Oddly, I've found the experience here on Yahoo Answers (under a different account) very pleasant, although I would like more depth to my work. Unfortunately, YA only pays in points!

Please, serious answers only.

Hi I just turned seventeen and I'm going to school and I have a part time job. I understand that I should pay for most wants, but my parents should pay for my basic personal needs like razors, shampoo, toothepaste etc.
They agreed to pay a monthly amount so I can choose how to use it whichever way I need to since I probably would know what I need more then them. How much money a month should I get? (just for like basic necessities)

My mother recently got a letter about reverse mortgage of her house. (She's not far off of retirement age). In the letter, it says that basically, they would take over her mortgage, and possibly pay a stipend, but that when she passes, the house goes to her heirs (if she has any) and they would be responsible for paying back the amount paid (with interest, I'm sure). However, I have also heard from another source that the company takes the home when she passes.
Does anybody know if this is true?
