I ordered goods for my business on 12/31/06 but it didnt show up on my bank statement until 1/8/07. Can I still deduct these business related goods/items on my 2006 IRS 1040 tax return?

I graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems. However, I actually learned nothing with this major. It was a waste of time. I actually got me a job that is not even related to what I studied, but it deals with computers. Anyone else knows what I can do? I need job that pays me more.

My endowment is going to fall short on the amount I have to repay. I made a complaint to standard life and they have come back with compensation of £3000. This is the difference between what my policy is worth and how much I would have paid off had I taken out a repayment mortgage. Is this a reasonable offer or should I try to go further, if so how do I do this.

I have about $9,000 in cc debts. They were back in 2000. They are still coming after me. I am currently wokring but helping my husband pay the home bills *all under his name* since i have horrible credit. But is 9,000 worth filing? What are my options? I have paid some agency and went thru credit counseling but i don't have 400 a month to pay out of pocket. Can anyone help me? I have a baby daughter as well. I'm not sure where to post this, but I'd like some advice on a business proposal that a couple friends of mine are proposing to me.
A little background info: I've been invited from a couple guys I know to get in on a ground level opportunity for a start-up that they're going to be launching soon. The business itself is an advertising firm that these two guys have started and have asked me to become part of by investing (50K) and taking charge of a certain local regional area called city X. The main purpose of the new start-up is to give all the businesses in the area an online presence and offer packages for them to advertise they're products and services. They are planning on launching the same thing in a nearby city as a pilot, but I will be in charge of city X and a percentage of all income generated from city X.

The gist of it is they want me to pay 50K to have rights to the income generated from city X, plus a quarterly maintenance fee of 15% of gross receipts.

Is this ok?
