Why can oil prices fall $7 since Christmas, yet my local gas station's prices seem unaffected by this, yet if prices had rose, I could guarantee the pump price would skyrocket immediately afterward?

I've heard that if a minor makes over one thousand dollars in a year, they can get that money back from W2's. Is this true? if not, what is.

I am having my first baby and my friend told me that my husband and I will qualify for the the child tax credit.

What is the $1,000 child tax credit?

Is this money that we don't have to pay taxes on? Or is the $1,000 credit taxen off our taxable income?

I don't understand how this will benefit me.

I worked for a lab for almost a year before I had to have knee surgery. They laid me off because I needed to be off for six weeks. I ended up working for them again through a temp agency, I said I wouldn't work for them again because I hated it but I really don't like being without a job. I am going to start work somewhere else on Tuesday, I know it's not enough notice but I've never gotten any help from them with anything. I just feel really bad quitting and I don't want everyone pissy with me for my last few days. Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any experience with the Yellow Pages book in the UK?

I have been advertising with them for just under a year, and they take the monthly fee out of my bank by direct debit. My problem is, that its not cost effective, as the advert isn't bringing in any new customers.

How do I cancel it or does it run out after a year. I signed up for a year but if they work like a mobile contact does, they keep taking the money out after the year, or do Yellow Pages have to ask for your permission to print your advert in their book each year?

Any help would be great.

Hi

I'm looking for organic products intended for baby that I can turn into a business.
These include shampoos, soaps, organically grown cotton based clothing etc.
How would I find out where a manufacturer or wholesaler is who could supply me with these, UK or overseas?
Many thanks
Steve

Re Stock & Share Sales. I don't have to send in Tax Returns - I'm old. I would like to know this:- if one SELLS a share and receives over £10,000 (even if it means a Net Loss) do they have to inform the Inland Revenue. I ask this because it was like that say 10 years ago. At that time it was in the part to do with either dividends or capital gains.
Please don't guess this answer. If such a thing still exists is it now at higher rate?
I hope someone knows because I have gaps in my memory now.

I have a brother who left a job recently. He has received two paychecks since he left; seems someone in payroll has made a mistake. Aside from the moral issues tied with this, what would the law say. I believe that his former employer would have every right to the money back. Additionally, there were payroll taxes deducted which I assume the employer would want from my brother.

My brother thinks the money is his and is currently spending it on some bills. I want to give him some advice before he digs himself in too far.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I just bought a new home with a good down payment, and because it came from a relative, under market value. Together, it leaves me with a + difference of about $150K between the appraisal value and the balance on the mortgage. Now I'm considering getting an equity line for about 40-50K to do some renovations and pay high interest debt, but I wonder how mortage seasoning rules would apply in this sort of situations. Does seasoning affect strictly the percentage of the value you can borrow, or does it also affect the terms? In this case, I'm only interested in getting a line for partial value...does that make any difference?? Thanks!
