Does anyone have any experience with the Yellow Pages book in the UK?

I have been advertising with them for just under a year, and they take the monthly fee out of my bank by direct debit. My problem is, that its not cost effective, as the advert isn't bringing in any new customers.

How do I cancel it or does it run out after a year. I signed up for a year but if they work like a mobile contact does, they keep taking the money out after the year, or do Yellow Pages have to ask for your permission to print your advert in their book each year?

Any help would be great.

Write to them on headed paper asking them to cancel your subscription in the next book. You will still get the free one line advert. Then cancel your direct debit at the bank.

I don't imagine it is any different from the US - probably the same company publishing the books - Your contract probably noted that this is for the full term of the book, which is published once a year. Just like a lease you are responsible for the entire term. It may not be cost effective, but where else would someone look to find your number when they don't know or can't remember your company name - only that you are in the line of business they need. The longer you are in business the more important it becomes. We ran an ad for 10 years - then one year the ad was dropped in error and our service work came to a halt within 2 weeks of the delivery of the new book.

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.

Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.
