I had started to work in NYC "under the table" for the first couple of weeks. Then my employer asked me for my s.s. # and how many exemptions I was claiming, then witheld taxes each pay period. I told her I needed to fill out a W2 with my signature, but she never provided one. I don't have any pay stubs because I received only checks without details of the witholding. What should I do? If she is not reporting it to the IRS, I want my money back. If she is, how can I receive a W2 if I never signed one? Do I need to file a complaint against her?

I have started a new job. Been on it for about three months now. My job is super fast paced. Just recently in the last week they hired another girl. She is the ULTIMATE SLACKER.When everyone else is running crazy and trying to just keep up..she sits there with this glazed over look and gives you a go to hell look when you ask her to do something. She has already started rolling her eyes and starting drama for being asked to do something..ANYTHING for that matter. She was hired to assist me however being the new chic myself I cant exactly call the shots. To put the icing on the cake ..she is the daughter in law of a woman that has worked there for a long long time that everyone respects and likes...so basically I guess she will just get by with everything. I actually got kinda cross with her the other day for her attitude and I kinda ordered her to do some things because that is what she is there for. Now the woman that she is "kin" to is giving me hateful looks etc. What do I do?

I generally like putting money on my credit card before making expenditures, as this ensures I won't get charged any interest on any amount and that I can actually afford whatever it is I'm purchasing.

I was told by a financial representative that it actually helps to make a purchase often, even if it's a small one. But will my credit rating improve if I pay it before I actually create any debt (the kind that doesn't earn interest)?

Should I be paying it one day after, instead of any time before? Should I wait for my mail statement to arrive?

Thanks,
Ken

2 days ago my boss told me that, due to a "transition," I'm being dismissed so they can replace me with someone who has more fiancial skills to better assist the firm's bookkeeper. But I suspect my being dismissed w/ no warning is partially personally motivated b/c the bookkeeper and I don't get along. When I was told I no longer have my job w/the company, my boss told me I could stay 6-8 weeks, to find a job before I leave, but I suspect they are trying to use me to keep the office running while they find my replacement. I wrote an official letter to the partners that day telling them that, since I was dismissed that day, I was making that day my last day. Can employers legally obligate dismissed employees to stay after they tell them they're being let go, and if the employee decides to leave immediately, can the employer deny them unemployment benefits? I'm afraid they'll claim I walked out b/c I refused the offer to stay for 6-8 wks, and that they'll deny my unemployment benefits.

Are there any fundamentally sound commodity investments out there right now? Commodities seem way overpriced and I don't think we should be paying this much for them. What do you think?

(Please only reply to this if you have something intelligent to add.)
