I can't believe I am even asking this....but am looking to do things right this year.

What's the best way to track my finances - cash or accrual?

For example, when I use my credit card in JAN, but pay it off in FEB, in what month should I realize my expenses? In JAN or FEB?

I have the same question for the receipt of my paycheck? I work in JAN, but receive the money 1/2 in JAN, 1/2 in FEB? I know my employer will issue my W2 based off the accrual method.

Lastly, how does this tie in with tracking my budget?

Thanks!

My employer does not offer 401K plans. When someone has student loans, children, and live paycheck to paycheck, how do they begin to save for retirement?

From late last year, I made only about 6 thousand bucks. I am trying to claim business related expenses, but don't have all the receipt. However, my credit card statements show transactions that I'm missing the receipts for. Would it be advisable to use what's on the credit card statements to claim the deduction OR is it a one way to get my a$$ fried and have tax evasion charge on my record?

Also, is there anyway to claim cash transaction for business related expenses, but you do't have the receipts.

I am having an important meeting with some higher ups, but I would like to make my points across loud and clear. Are there any tactics of intimidation that will get them to back off?

Can you explain the process of shorting on a foreclosure? How do the negotiations work with the lien holders? What would be a normal offer for a foreclosure property (as a percent of retail value)? Thanks, first best answer gets my ten points.

Just curious! Which one would be more beneficial to the home owner (buyer)? To pay extra on the principal every month or to pay one large sum at the end of the calendar year?

Their are three careers I am looking into right now:

-Owning my own daycare
-Becoming a Kindergarten teacher
-Becoming a zookeeper

Right now I work at a preschool as a teachers aid and also at a daycare center, so I have a lot of experience with young children and enjoy working with children however I have also always wanted to work with animals, and in the future, don't want to regret never getting a degree to enable me to work with animals. What are some advantages and disadvantages with each career?

Hi, My company had a very very good year and my boss gave me a large Christmas bonus. The bonus was a little over 1/2 my annual salary. Usually, federal withholding takes about 16% from my monthly paycheck... but on the bonus.. this surged to 26%. Most of the others.. SS, Medicare stayed about the same. Are X-mas bonuses taxed at a higher rate?

Thank You For your help, Brian

I have been looking for a massage chair for quite some time now. So much so, that i know the model numbers by heart.
I found the chair i want listed in an ad from an electronic/furniture store. The picture that is shown is the Ijoy300. I go into the store and ask them to honor the price and he quickly writes something down on the price tag and says that the price is wrong, but there was no retraction on the ad nor anything on the tag at the time i came in saying i wanted that one.
They are trying to cover thier mistake by saying there is no model number listed on the ad and i should not go by the illustrations. They only show model numbers for electronics they said.
Here is what i believe i have on them
1) it is an electronic. (its a massage chair!!)
2) bait and switch scheme (get me into the store for that chair and now i gotta pay $200 for the one they have advertised)
3) the floor salesman said i was arguing a mute point...then why the need to file for a retraction for that ad?wierd

I was terminated from my job. I must fix this because I can no longer work for the govt. It was over 2.5 years ago this happened. However it was not fair. Many other people were also terminated from this company at this place. If we communicate I can provide more detailed information. So if you decide to take the time to answer this please be prepared to spend some time on the pc to communicate the best answer. I would prefer not to hear things like time of limitations, there is no limit to wrong doing. If you disagree please dont tell me. But if you have been in my position and you feel strongly please send me some advice. I thank you kindly for your time. Respectfully, Eddie

I recently went to an interview for a place i would really love to work at. It has been a little over a week and I am still awaiting a call to know if I have been hired or if the position has already been "filled". Would i be wrong to call to check on the status of the hiring result, and if no, what should i say??

It works. From their Im set. 2 jobs, classes, career, 2 volenteering programs. So my question is. I would like a program that lets you divide your money into categories before bills are paid, so there is money available for each bill. ( I know quicken and money let you pick categories after you enter each bill, thats not what I need)
