I recently went to an interview for a place i would really love to work at. It has been a little over a week and I am still awaiting a call to know if I have been hired or if the position has already been "filled". Would i be wrong to call to check on the status of the hiring result, and if no, what should i say??

By the way if i was to get the job it would be my first!! I went with a friend who overheard my interview and said it went really well. I have absolutely no work exeperience so I am a little worried that this will drastically affect my chance it getting the position...

Send a Thank You note to the persons who interviewed you immediately! This shows that you are definitely interested and have good manners and even if you didn't get this job you'll have made a good impression just in case there's another opening for which you may want to be considered now or in the future.

Secondly, call the personnel (human resources) office and politely inquire if the position has been filled. If it has been you'll have your bases covered with the Thank You note you've sent and if it hasn't yet been filled you may have made bonuse points with that Thank You note!

Either way...get moving...you're the only one who can "toot your own horn"!

I would call them.

Tell the person you just can't wait to work for such a great company and you are so looking forward to get started. Ask if they have anything you can answer for them.

Yes, they'll see right through that you are just calling for an answer but it is a nice touch.
