I would say become a kindergarten teacher. You will have a teaching degree, which can always be useful if you do decide to open your own day care. Sorry, but I would give the zookeeper lowest priority. It just doesn't pay well and your degree would be useless. However, if you do go into teaching, or own a day care, you could volunteer at the zoo and still work with your interest in animals. You could also get involved in a zoo's community education center. Zoos have offices that do lots of PR with kids, organize school tours, take small animals out in location, etc. That could combine everything you like right there.
But get the teaching degree. You can get a job right out of college and save money to open your own day care. And you will have alot of credibility as a day care owner with that degree. Parents will know you will be more than just a warehouse for their kids.

It sounds like you want to work with animals and it's your passion. The thing with being a kindergarden teacher is that, as much as the kids may be a joy, you will always have that feeling that there may be something more out there. My advice is to get a degree that enables to you to work with animals, and become a zookeeper. You could even create a daycare within the zoo, or be the manager of kids field trips! it might be easier to combine your two passions than you think! good luck :]
p.s- we have the same name!

Answer some of your own questions and you will be on the right path. There are ways to make a good living, but if you hate what you are doing, then living is not something you want to do for long! What is it that excites you? Photography? Sports? Video Games? What makes you want to get up in the morning? Answer that question first, and then find a way to make a living doing that thing or make a living that surrounds that thing. Do what you love and the money will follow.

there would be advantages and disadvantages to all of them but if you seek to combine them, you may well be able to have a day care center and use that money to pay for the college degree in case you later wanted to make the change.

Working with animals is an admirable desire, but competition is high and pay is low.
Working with children is also an admireable desire, where competiton is not as high, but pay can be low too.
You might want to talk to people already working in the jobs you are interested in and ask them questions about what they think. Ask about their hours, work environment and job's future.

You need to start where you can afford to be unless you've been born with a gold spoon in your mouth. Start at a paying career then switch after you've saved some money to open your own business....insurance....overhead expenses...etc.

I would suggest that you take an aptitude test to find out about your natural abilities and tendencies. Sometimes we dream about doing things we're not really meant to do. You can find aptitude tests on line or check with your guidance counselor or advisor at your school.
