I have a 7 year plan & im only 13.

Just next year. [ 8th grade - BIG YEAR ] I will be volunteering at the zoo. From there on, when I become 14 which will be Oct. 21st. of next year, I will be volunteering at the Akron Hospital. Not long after I start at the zoo. When I enter high school I have it pre-planned that I will be starting my animal management classes ( 9th grade ). From there.. after I turn 15 I plan to be working 2 jobs. One is already for sure. I know the boss, I GOT THE JOB ALREADY!!.. and the other is a a reastraunt. Nothing big, but at 15 years old. It works. From their Im set. 2 jobs, classes, career, 2 volenteering programs. So my question is. Do you have any tips of where I should go from their, ect. and is anyone else insterested in animals and forensics anthropology as a career? Thanks.

Deanna.

Very good plan!

There are different career paths you can take your love for working with animals. Oh and volunteer work at your local zoo or animal shelter will give you a wonderful headstart toward paid work when you are older. If there is a wildlife rehab facility near your home, look into volunteer work there.

Vet tech - A two year community college program. You would learn valuable job skills that could help you get a BA/BS degree in animal science or veterinary medicine.

You could also major in zoology; specializing in your favorite animal group. Big cats, rare small cats, wolves and other wild dogs, etc....

There is a well respected talk show host in Seattle named Martha Norwalk who has a two year degree in vet tech. She's had advanced training in animal behavior, and has a private practice working with people and their "troubled" dogs. That is another career path you could take. If you are good with dogs and cats.

What you need to do between now and starting college is get good grades and take every science class your schools have to offer. High school is a few years down the road, but look into what advanced science classes you might want to take. Many kids with pre-med, nursing, and vet med plans take anatomy classes in high school.

Good Luck!

What is it that you yourself want to do as a career?

There will always be an interest in animals. Look at how popular the Animal Channel is on TV. Programs like CSI have made forensics a very popular topic. I'm a fan of the TV show "Bone" which is about forensics and its based on a real woman who does it as a living. There is a movie I like called "The Relic" which has to do with a museum and the study of ancient things.

But it all comes down to what it is that you want to do as a career.

This has PRIDE all over the place. Lady, what do you get out of being proud? I think its time for you to stop emailing each other and start talking face to face about the real deal. Too much emphasis on the small things would definitely takes its toll on relationships. Too much words left unsaid, too much Pride in both of you. Seriously i am surprised how you two can last this long! Talk to him. And swallow your pride, don't bring up past issues ( what good does it make anyway?) when you talk, just say you're sorry.
