I am quiting my job on the 29th of december and was planning on giving 2 weeks notice on Friday the 15th or Monday the 18th. I just found out we receive our holiday bonus on the 15th. When would it be appropriate to give my employer my two weekes: before the bonus or after? Also, is it appropriate to give them notice the day after I get my bonus?

My employer is trying to get me to sign a five-year non-compete agreement. Is this normal? Seems excessive to me.

My fiance broke into a house almost four years ago. He didn't take anything and he just left. (Stupid, I know). But it just cost him a really good job. And I was wondering if all jobs look at this and not give a person a chance or do any places not care.I mean he just got a degree in multimedia. He's trying so hard. But this can mess us up for a long time if he can't get anything

Hello!

Looking for Weekend/Part time Business/Money Making Ideas.

I'm a college student and currently own my own small business which is helping me pay for college, but I'd like to earn some more to start investing with.

I'm open to any idea you have. I want to be self-employed & work with my friends/family...so please don't tell me to just get a part-time job. The goal of this question is to come up with ideas that any college student or anyone for that matter, can use and make money from if they have enough drive to succeed.

Thanks for your time!

I make good money, but I honestly don't budget appropriately. I always get my bills paid, but tend to have very little left over. Are there resources available to show people how to budget?

I'm looking for a new job again. The other day, I contacted my manager at my second-most recent employer and asked him to be a reference. He declined, saying that he thought I was a great guy and had a lot of potential, but wasn't comfortable being a reference for me. To be honest, my work wasn't the greatest at that company -- I had an illness in the family and lost focus somewhat at work -- but having to explain a lack of a ref. is a problem. Suggestions on how to handle?

Is asking someone to be a character reference only better or worse than having no reference at all?
