No...the law is pretty clear...the child can only be claimed for any given tax year if it is born on or prior to December 31. You MAY however be able to deduct medical bills or costs resulting from the pregnancy...

You have to provide a social security number, which will not be issued until the baby is born.

Double-check with a tax accountant or CPA in your area.

Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck with the new one!

Not for 2006, but for 2007.

No, you could't declare a baby for any 365 days earlier to the 365 days of delivery. If the newborn is stillborn or you've a miscarriage or abortion, you could't declare the newborn for any 365 days. If the newborn is born and then dies, you could declare the newborn for the entire 365 days in which it became born (and the entire 365 days in which it dies, if different), even no matter if it really is became alive for below one 2d of that 365 days. In all situations, you could declare the medical charges on time table A as an itemized (medical fee) deduction.

You can only claim a child that has a social security number. Also your child would need to born the tax year you are filing.

I hope this helps.

No you won't beable to claim you unborn child. the child has to be born in dec. to be able to claim. I had my daughter dec. 4 and they said since she was here before i filed i could but if i would of had her in Jan or after then I would have to wait until next year.

No, you're child is technically not a 'being' according to government state laws. (this is also why abortion is legal)
