Today I attempted to go to work, but with the road conditions being so bad with the snow storm, I had to turn arround and come back home, which I did not want to do, but felt my safety was threatened if I continued.

I then spoke to a co-worker who told me that my employer was quite mad about this (I did reported to my supervisor I would not be in, but the executive manager was upset). This brings up a few questions that I'm looking for opinions on. Do you think employers have the right to discriminate against those who take time off? Do you think if you are an employee that does not take much time off, that employers have the right to ask for a reason when personal days are taken? I am really upset that someone would question my judgement and expect me to risk my life for some crappy little cashiering job. I'm nervous to go into work tomorrow because If he questions my judgment, I will be quite angry and insulted.

Quick question. I have an interview on Monday. It would require me to drive 270 miles one way. I haven't been offered reimbursement for mileage or a hotel stay. I would rent a car since mine is slightly older, and I would be afraid to drive it that far. If they would reimbuse mileage, it would pay for itself. The job is with my current company. I would be traveling from Philly to Pittsburgh. I am having second thoughts about it. Should I make a convenient excuse until this is resolved? It sounds like a good oppurtunity, but I am hesitant to lay out that money with no guarantee of a job. It would be nice if they would have done a telephone interview to screen me beforehand to make sure it is worth my while to travel out there..any thoughts?

Assume that you are vice-president in charge of physical distribution at a large retailer like Amazon.com. In the case of Amazon, it is your task to assure that products (books, DVDS and CDs) are available, delivered in a timely manner, and with the right level of customer service. What steps would you take to assure that happens? Is there anything you could do to keep the costs from getting too high?

We've been in our first house since Jan. I think that this year I should iteamize my taxes. I have always taken the standard deductions...which are not bad because I've got 3 kids(5 deductions total). 1) If my mortgage is approx $1,100/mo. and most of that going to interest...how much better off would I be to itemize? 2) What other things can I claim as deductions (to increase my refund)?

Thanks in advance for your help...Rob

to go. What would you suggest? Calling in sick - and if so what reason? Just tell them I have an appointment (even though they KNOW I'm looking for another job?) Is car care a good enough excuse? HELP!

I recently relocated to Huntington Beach from CT, the main reason was to get out of the northeast. I am curious if anyone can help me by referring a headhunter agency to me. I am a health care insurance professional with management experience and would like to find an agency that gets paid by the employer, rather than a $2,000-$4,000 fee from me (which I've been quoted by some). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
